After throwing the lamb meat, the tiger stared at him for a while before ultimately choosing to compromise. It stepped forward a couple of paces and lay down in the snow, devouring the meat hungrily. From the earlier plaintive grunts of the brown bear, Xu Li had gathered the gist of the situation. 0

Since it had come over to beg for food before, Xu Li and his companions not only refrained from attacking it but also provided it with plenty of food. Thus, the bear regarded Xu Li's territory as part of its own domain, making the tiger a target for expulsion. 0

The tiger was a carnivorous animal, so Xu Li also tossed some sheep hooves and offal to it. Meanwhile, the brown bear received a bounty of apples and washed potatoes. After all, being an omnivore, the bear could eat anything. The tiger seemed to have been hungry for quite some time; it didn’t appear satisfied and licked the blood-stained white snow clean. 0

Xu Li tossed two lamb fetuses over as well. He had plenty of these in his icehouse, reserved for Xiong Da and Xiong Er. He couldn't afford to be extravagant by killing sheep and cattle daily just to feed his bears; instead, he primarily purchased offal processed by slaughterhouses, which was why he had specifically set up an icehouse. 0

When cows, sheep, and pigs gave birth, some little ones were born with congenital deficiencies and died shortly after birth or were stillborn. These too would be thrown into the icehouse for Xiong Da and Xiong Er to eat. Given the scale of his breeding operation, he had a fair amount of these. 0

Once both large creatures were full, they prepared to leave. Xu Li tossed over some hard lamb fetuses and calves; he gave more of the fetuses to the brown bear along with a bag of tightly bundled apples and potatoes, while two calves were thrown to the tiger. 0

He clapped his hands and said, "If you get hungry again, just come here and call out. Also, keep an eye on your territory; I don’t want other animals coming around. Now go." 0

The tiger tilted its head and looked at Xu Li for a moment before picking up two calves and leaving. The brown bear was a bit comical; struggling with the lamb fetus in its mouth and not having enough claws to hold onto everything, it dropped apples all over the ground. Finally, it looked at Xu Li with a pitiful grunt. 0

Xu Li rolled his eyes and crossed over Low Fence. Under Andreev's shocked gaze, he approached the mother bear and patted its large head. Compared to his own bear cubs, this brown bear could only be considered a younger sibling; it was about the same size as one he had killed previously. 0

He slung a bag of apples and potatoes over his shoulder while grabbing two lamb fetuses. The rest were either clutched or carried by the brown bear as it stood upright beside Xu Li and led him toward its den. Andreev couldn’t help but exclaim, "Makarov, are you crazy?" 0

"I brought a gun; what’s there to be afraid of?" he replied as he followed the mother bear into the woods. Having spent more than ten days with brown bears, he understood their habits well—if you didn’t attack them after they were full, they wouldn’t bother you either since they didn’t have a habit of storing food. 0

After about half an hour’s walk, they finally arrived at the mother bear's den. Clumsily, she first shoved her rear end into the den before gradually squeezing herself inside. Once she was fully inside, Xu Li tossed in the lamb fetuses and opened the bag to pour in the apples and potatoes. 0

He scooped up some snow from the ground to wash his hands, took out a cigarette to light up, and squatted at the entrance watching the mother bear rummage through her food. After a long while, he waved his hand dismissively: "Feed your cubs; next time you’re hungry just go call people at that spot. I’m leaving." 0

The mother bear grunted in response—sounding somewhat like a cow—and he chuckled as he got up with his bag and left. The mother bear shifted her position to make it easier for her newly born cubs to nurse. With a steady food supply now available, her hibernation period would significantly shorten while her waking frequency would increase; however, being able to eat regularly was still a happy thing for her. 0

Once Xu Li successfully crossed Low Fence again, the men on the ground let out a sigh of relief. Andreev expressed admiration for this Hua Xia man: "Makarov, you’re really brave!" 0

"Now that it's full, there’s nothing to fear. Next time if it comes back with that tiger again, just let me know. If I’m not around, just toss food over." 0

He patted several shoulders as they laughed and chatted back toward the cafeteria. They reheated their cold meals and continued eating until they were full before getting back to work. With more than a week left until they needed to send out over a thousand cattle and half that many sheep again, it was another profitable venture for Xu Li or anyone else involved. 0
