"Are you here to pick up Kamila?"
Etrie arrived at the training base, holding a stack of documents. As she drove in, she spotted Xu Weihua waiting at the entrance. He was wearing a light blue beanie and scarf, a fitted black down jacket, and light blue jeans, with a pair of trendy Hongxing Erke sneakers on his feet.
Two large bags hung from the front of his car, likely just returned from the supermarket. With a cheerful smile, he asked, "Do you mind if I show you what I got today?"
"Sure, Coach."
Xu Weihua opened the bags and began to introduce the ingredients inside. The left bag was filled with fresh vegetables and fruits, while the right bag contained a live King Crab and two boxes of Sweet Shrimp. "What do you think, Coach?"
Etrie smiled in satisfaction and teased him, "You must be quite the successful star; Kamila is in for a treat."
"You're joking, Coach. Last time Kamila told me not to eat too many starchy foods, so I thought I'd get some seafood."
Looking at the slightly shy young man before her and recalling Anna hiding in the corner, crying silently, she sighed inwardly and smiled. "In the future, don't call me 'Coach' all the time; you can call me Auntie or Aunty instead."
"Okay, Aunt Eteri."
"They should be resting soon; don’t bully Kamila, okay?"
Xu Weihua nodded. "I won't bully her; picking on girls isn’t what a man does."
"That's not the kind of bullying I'm talking about."
Etrie chuckled and waved as she headed back to the training base. Though she maintained a stern demeanor in front of her students and during competitions, it didn’t mean she didn’t care about them. On the contrary, she cared more than anyone else. She had witnessed these kids train hard since they were young, enduring hardships and shedding tears; how could she remain indifferent?
After waiting for a while, he couldn’t help but bounce on his feet with his hands in his pockets. Gradually, several boys and girls around his age exited the building with laughter and chatter before dispersing. Two young girls in oversized down jackets were bundled up tightly in their hats and scarves.
The smaller girl glanced at him before getting into a black sedan parked nearby with her companion. Xu Weihua lingered at the entrance for a moment; not far behind him in the car, Anna watched her ex-boyfriend's every move through the window.
Trusova sat quietly beside her while the middle-aged couple in the front seat remained silent, simply observing as Xu Weihua opened his arms to embrace the petite Kamila, spinning her around before gently setting her down and adjusting her pink hat and scarf.
After patting the back seat of the car to ensure she was settled in before he rode off on his bicycle, Anna quietly remarked, "It should have been me being treated like that by him, not Kamila."
The middle-aged man shifted gears as they drove home. "He moved on quickly after you two broke up and went straight for your teammate. That shows he’s a fickle boy. Good thing I didn’t agree to it; otherwise, you would have ended up hurt."
