"Are we not waiting for Uncle?"
At the dining table, Xu Weihua looked at Vika, who smiled and replied, "He went on a business trip. Let's eat."
"Okay, Auntie."
Xu Weihua habitually served Kamila some food. Noticing that both Vika and Diana were looking at him, he felt a bit shy and smiled awkwardly before diving into his meal. Diana, enjoying the rare Hua Xia Cuisine, nodded happily, while Vika raised her eyebrows in surprise at how delicious the steak was, rich in meaty flavor with a hint of corn aroma.
After taking a sip of juice, Vika curiously asked, "Did you marinate this steak in corn juice?"
"No, Auntie. This is from my family's ranch where we raise beef cattle. They’ve been fed corn since weaning, so the meat has a bit of corn flavor."
Diana gave him a thumbs up. "It's delicious!"
"Then you should eat more."
He smiled and cut his steak in half, offering it to Little Sister, earning a big grin from her. Vika didn’t say anything but smiled and continued eating. After dinner, Vika took on the household chores and headed to the kitchen to wash the dishes.
Soon, Diana excitedly ran into the kitchen. "Mom! Mom! That sports car is what Oleg just bought! I want to go for a ride!"
"What time is it? You still want to go for a ride?"
Vika frowned, about to say more when Xu Weihua appeared at the kitchen door with a smile. "It's fine, Auntie. Anyway, the car is new; I can get familiar with it."
"Just be careful on the road."
"Okay, Auntie."
After Xu Weihua took Diana downstairs, Vika finished washing the dishes and put the leftovers in the fridge. She noticed it was packed with fresh vegetables and water. Instinctively, she opened the lower freezer and found it stuffed with various meats.
Closing the fridge, she walked into the living room where Kamila was sitting cross-legged on the sofa playing with her phone. "Mom, are you satisfied with him?"
"As long as he treats you well."
Vika sighed. "All this food in the fridge... did he send it all?"
"Yes, his father slaughtered some cattle and sheep today and sent it over these past few days."
Kamila's words made Vika frown. "Kamila, our family can afford things; I think it's nice that you're dating him. But we can't just accept so many gifts without giving anything in return. Remember, my child, one shouldn't be too greedy."
"I didn't ask for it! He insisted on sending it over and said it's part of their Hua Xia etiquette."
The little girl felt extremely wronged. Seeing her daughter pout, Vika sat down beside her and wrapped an arm around her shoulders, gently stroking her arm. "Sweetheart, Mom just doesn’t want our family to be looked down upon by others. It’s clear his family is quite wealthy. I worry that as women age quickly, if a few years pass and your youth fades away, will he still cherish you?"
"He won't, Mom."
Kamila had unwavering confidence in her boyfriend. No matter how much he tried to disguise himself, his true nature could not be hidden, and Kamila saw through it all. While others thought she was a little fool, she was actually quite clever.
Around nine in the evening, Diana hugged a large stuffed bear, grinning widely as she showed it off to her mother and sister. "Isn't it cute? Oleg spent over two hours winning it for me!"
Xu Weihua chuckled as he placed the gift he bought for his sister-in-law on the coffee table. Vika glanced over and quickly realized what it was, especially since the packaging had writing on it. A bit annoyed, Vika pulled Diana closer. "How could you let Oleg buy such an expensive gift?"
