Xu Li waved his hand dismissively, saying, "Let me see if there are any available rooms here. I have a bad feeling about this."
"What happened?"
A few women gathered around, and he recounted the events of the morning. Marina's eyes surprisingly welled up with tears as she dramatically placed her hands over her heart. "Oh, how tragic."
"Don't pity me; let's go take a look."
The women grabbed their coats and put on their boots before heading to Xu Li's house. He glanced around the rooms and noticed that the largest room and the adjacent secondary bedroom had sheets and blankets, while the remaining four rooms were surprisingly empty. They probably felt lonely too and decided to sleep together for some comfort at night.
After closing the door to his home, he realized quite a few people had arrived. Bafra's husband was sitting on the sofa, playing with their one-year-old son and a cat. Upon seeing Xu Li, he quickly stood up. "Village Head!"
"Sit down."
Xu Li took Little Ones into his arms and playfully poked his beard against the child's face, causing Little Ones to squeal in delight. Bafra snatched the child back with an annoyed glare. "You should know better as an elder."
Kozilov and Bella sat nearby, trying to suppress their laughter. Noticing how formally they were dressed, Xu Li raised an eyebrow. "Why are you two all dressed up?"
"Hehe, Uncle," the young man chuckled as he stood up to pull out a cigarette but was immediately stopped by Xu Li. "I can’t smoke your cigarettes."
"Come on, Uncle, can I borrow your car for a few days?"
He pointed at Bella, who looked a bit shy. "I plan to take Bella to Irkutsk for a while to pick out some furniture and appliances. We've been together for half a year now but haven't had a proper outing yet."
About that...
Xu Li nodded and went inside to grab Anna's car keys. He led the two of them to the garage, opened the frosted glass door, and pressed a button near the sound system, revealing a hidden handgun inside. "If you encounter danger, don't hesitate; protecting Bella is the most important thing. Only reveal this if absolutely necessary."
Kozilov smacked his lips. "Uncle, we're just going out for fun; we’re not looking for trouble with anyone. How about I drive your Mighty Warrior instead?"
"If I give it to you, you can drive it."
Xu Li slapped the keys into the young man's hand. "Take good care of Bella. Do you have enough money?"
"I’ve saved up three hundred One Hundred Thousand Rubles over these two years; it should be enough, Uncle."
Kozilov gratefully lit a cigarette for Xu Li, while Bella smiled sweetly at him. "Thank you, Village Head."
"Have fun! Call me if anything comes up."
Xu Li smiled as he opened the garage door. Once Kozilov drove out of the yard, he finally closed the door behind him.
