"Father, you must have had a hard time on the way here."
Xu Li bent down and gently hugged Kamila, then embraced the smiling Angelina, ruffling her hair. "What about you, Angelina? When are you planning to give me a granddaughter or grandson?"
"Oh, Dad, I'm still young!" Angelina stomped her foot and looked around. "Where are the two moms?"
"Oh, they're at home. We should head there now."
With a smile, Xu Li helped his two daughters-in-law into a spacious business van. The whole family set off toward the villa he had just bought a few days ago. On the way, they stopped briefly as the brothers planned to buy a bouquet of flowers for their Qi Qin.
"Wow, Dad, this is by Xuanwu Lake! This house must be really expensive!" Xu Weihua exclaimed as he gazed at the shimmering lake in the distance.
Xu Li chuckled. "The house is too small for our big family."
Once they arrived home, Angelina was the first to get out of the car. She carefully helped the heavily pregnant Kamila down. The two brothers entered the house first, holding carnations, and quickly made their way to the living room where their two Qi Qin were snacking on fruit. Their excited expressions froze on their faces.
"Uh..."
Anna opened her arms wide. "Come here, son! Let me see if you've lost weight!"
Eva proudly patted her belly. "Nikola, are you surprised? Unexpected?" She giggled.
The brothers exchanged bewildered glances. Xu Weixia was the first to react and hurriedly squatted down in front of Eva. "Mom, no way! This can't be real!"
"Mom, this shouldn't be fake, right?" Xu Weihua squatted down too and poked Eva's belly with his finger. Kamila and Angelina, who had just entered behind them, were taken aback—especially Kamila, who was already over eight months pregnant and felt like her mother-in-law was targeting her baby.
"Just eat one bite of vegetables? Just one bite!"
"No! These vegetables are a bit bitter; I don't want to eat them!"
At the dining table, Xu Li picked up a piece of vegetables with his chopsticks while Eva puffed out her cheeks and shook her head in refusal. He moved from left to right trying to coax Eva into eating a bite of vegetables. Finally, after much effort, Eva reluctantly ate a tiny bit with a grimace. Xu Li smiled widely. "That's right! Vegetables are good for you; you should eat more this season."
Angelina nearly buried her face in her bowl, trying hard not to laugh. Xu Weihua and Xu Weixia blinked as they witnessed how their father was showing affection at the table. Kamila bit her chopsticks and hesitated over the last large shrimp left on the table when Xu Weixia suddenly grabbed it with his chopsticks.
Smack!
Xu Li slapped his second son on the back of the head and handed the shrimp to Kamila, who looked at him gratefully with a smile. He then shot his second son a glare. "Didn’t you see your sister-in-law wanted that? You're in your twenties; can’t you show some awareness?"
After scolding his second son, he didn’t forget to pass the last two pieces of Sweet and Sour Ribs in front of his eldest son to Angelina. "Here you go; I know you love Sweet and Sour Ribs."
"Thank you, Dad!" Angelina happily picked up a piece and stuffed it into her mouth, closing her eyes in satisfaction.
"Dudu!"
"What’s up? Why did you think to call me?"
Xu Jiaguo lay sprawled on the dormitory bed, looking relaxed. Xu Weihua opened his mouth to ask, "Are you in cahoots with Mom and Dad to keep something from me and the second brother?"
"Keep what from you?" Xu Jiaguo replied, a hint of confusion in his voice.
