"Where's the money?"
Larry squatted on the ground and slapped Xiao Nianqing across the face. "You think you're so tough just because your dad is the sheriff? What are we, a bunch of nobodies? Where's Natasha's money?"
After saying that, he slapped him again. Xiao Nianqing was hit so hard that he struggled to speak, trembling as he pulled out the money from his pocket. Larry snatched the cash and handed it to the young girl, then threw Xiao Nianqing to the ground, spitting on his face. "You're nothing."
"What are you doing?"
Andreev grabbed his son’s shoulder, while Zhukov carried a body over his shoulder. "What do you mean? Are we supposed to blow this place up? I can't take a beating for nothing."
"If you're going to blow it up, wait until we're gone," Old Russian interrupted, snatching the body from Zhukov's shoulder and dragging it in front of Valery, sneering coldly at him. "Now you know about Hongqi Village, huh? You dare to hit my son? Just because you're the sheriff doesn't make you special."
Alexei's phone rang. He muttered a few responses before putting it away. "The village chief said that the police from Bratsk will be coming soon. We need to wrap things up here."
Larry pulled Alexei out of the dance hall and quietly pointed at Natasha. "Brother, I'm interested in Natasha, but her father is a problem. I've heard he's a notorious drunkard in town. If we deal with him, it'll be easier for me to pursue her."
"No way! If that girl finds out, she'll hate you," Alexei quickly waved his hand in refusal. "There are plenty of ways to handle this; no need to act rashly now. She might not even like you yet. Take your time."
Patting Larry on the shoulder, they sent some guys carrying heavy weapons ahead in tanks and armored vehicles while others stayed behind to keep an eye on the thugs.
A group of bruised and battered punks waited early at the village chief's yard. Xu Li rolled his eyes in annoyance. "With scum like you in our village, it's a misfortune for everyone. If you weren't hurt, I'd beat you all senseless."
The group of Xiao Nianqing chuckled without responding. Valentin saw Aunt Anna getting out of the car with a child and rushed over. "Hey, look at our little brother! So handsome, just like our village chief!"
"Yeah, yeah!"
Zhukov and the others quickly chimed in, surrounding Anna and Eva until Xu Li kicked one of them away. The little punks laughed and ran off; they had managed to get through this ordeal.
Word spread through hundreds of villages nearby about Hongqi Village's brutality—when things went south, they rolled in with tanks and armored vehicles, taking down Vatsk Town's sheriff and several of his men, along with gangsters who had been entrenched in the town for decades.
"Dad."
"Hmm?"
At the dinner table, Gennady sipped his drink and glanced at Valentin. "Spit it out."
"I want to buy a car."
Rolling his eyes, he replied, "I just bought your brother a car and organized a wedding banquet last year. I haven't even recovered from that yet."
"I have a girlfriend now, and she's as beautiful as Sister Lana."
"Really?"
