Xu Li sat quietly, silently calculating their next move, while Alexei discussed the action plan with his teammates. These professionals—why had he only recruited such a small number at the beginning? 0

He pulled out his phone to check the time. "First, let's make a trip to Bratsk. We need to gather some supplies, and we should also change vehicles; ours are too conspicuous." 0

A man in the back seat conveyed Xu Li's message to the others. The three cars merged onto the road in the dead of night, heading toward Bratsk. 0

"Boss, I've recently set my sights on a target," one of them said excitedly. "Yeah, yeah, they all come from remote villages. I've got their background figured out. The father is dead, and the mother is nowhere to be found. He grew up with his grandmother and just arrived here to attend college." 0

A drunken young man tucked his phone away, clutching a half-empty bottle of vodka under his arm. He placed the groceries he had just bought from the supermarket on the ground and pulled out his keys to unlock the door. Suddenly, a large foot kicked open the security door, and a cold gun barrel pressed against the back of his head. 0

A voice devoid of emotion came from behind him: "Get downstairs." 0

The young man trembled as he turned around, catching a glimpse of someone dressed in special forces gear. His heart raced. "Who are you?" 0

"Enough with the nonsense." 0

The burly man kicked him down the hallway, bent down to grab the bag of food, and walked away. Another kick landed on his back as the gun barrel tapped against his head. "Hurry up." 0

"Yes, yes!" 0

The young man got up, rubbing his elbow where he had fallen. He glanced around and placed his hand on the railing. After taking two steps, he suddenly accelerated, jumping from the middle of the stairs to the next level before sprinting down. 0

It was around eight or nine at night; gunfire would attract attention from residents. He was sure they wouldn’t shoot at him—he had won this gamble! 0

Just as he grinned widely, revealing a mouthful of rotten teeth upon reaching the first floor, a boot emerged from around the corner and tripped him. A large man stepped forward and knocked him unconscious with a swift blow from his gun butt before dragging him into a van. 0

"Alexei, you let this kid escape?" 0

After Alexei got into the car and closed the door, several men laughed cruelly at him. Alexei rolled his eyes but said nothing as he opened the bag and pulled out a piece of salami. He tore off the packaging and put on a mask before starting to eat; the others didn’t hold back either, rummaging through their bags. 0

Driving slowly, Yuri lit a cigarette and took a drag. "This kid really knows how to hide. I bet if it weren't for his family running out of food, he wouldn't have come out at all." 0

Alexei glanced at the bag by his feet and nodded in agreement: "Aside from salami, there's only Xun Yu left; everything else is vodka—looks like enough for three or four days." 0

The van gradually disappeared into traffic before finally stopping at an abandoned factory on the outskirts of town. Seven or eight oil barrels stood upright, occasionally crackling as they burned. Xu Li sat on a broken chair with his feet propped up on a stone slab. 0

The unconscious young man was tossed in front of Xu Li by Alexei and another burly man. Alexei stomped on his fingers with his heavy boot, twisting it back and forth. 0

"Ah!" 0

The young man woke up in agony from the pain in his fingers and screamed as he tried to push Alexei's boot away. Xu Li coldly laughed and stepped aside while accepting a cigarette passed to him by a companion before lighting it up. He dropped his feet to the ground and leaned forward to examine the young man for a long moment before finally speaking: "Alexander Maslennikov?" 0

"Yes... yes!" 0

The young man slowly raised his head to look at Xu Li. 0
