After being discovered by the men in black, Fu Xingchen stepped out from his hiding place first, his long sword slightly unsheathed. He fixed his gaze ahead and said loudly, "We are merely passing through this area. We noticed some commotion and came to investigate." Su Yizhi and Mu Yunfan followed suit, positioning themselves on either side of Fu Xingchen, ready to respond to any sudden developments.
The leader of the men in black sneered, raising a Black Token high and shouting, "Passing through? Hmph! In this desolate wilderness, what a coincidence that is. You better come clean about who you are and what your intentions are!" With that, he waved his hand, and the surrounding men in black quickly closed in, each wielding sharp blades with fierce expressions.
Mu Yunfan stepped forward without fear and declared loudly, "We are all honorable members of Jianghu Chivalry. But you lot, hiding in these mountains during the day and playing with strange things while threatening passersby—what conspiracy are you plotting?"
The leader's expression darkened as he ceased to speak further and shouted, "Take them down!" The men in black surged forward, and Fu Xingchen immediately unleashed the Starry Phantom Sword Technique. As his sword danced through the air, shadows of blades multiplied, overwhelming the first attacker who could not withstand the onslaught. While striking back, he shouted, "Everyone be careful; these people are not weak!"
Su Yizhi executed the Clear Wind Soaring Cloud Sword technique, moving with the grace of a gentle breeze. His sword strikes were sharp and ethereal. Spotting an opening in one of the men in black, he flicked his wrist, launching his sword directly into the opponent's arm. The man screamed in pain as his blade fell to the ground. Su Yizhi swiftly kicked him away and continued to engage other foes.
Mu Yunfan unleashed the Azure Sea Surging Palm technique, his palms sweeping through the air with a roaring wind that forced back the approaching men in black. He shouted loudly, "Brother Fu! Brother Su! Let's finish this quickly!"
Zhao Gang was equally undeterred as he swung his iron rod with a whooshing sound; each strike was filled with tremendous power. He yelled, "I’m not afraid of you little minions!" The sounds of battle echoed through the forest as shouts and clashing weapons filled the air.
Seeing his subordinates gradually falling behind, the leader's anger flared up as he personally joined the fray. His weapon was a peculiar curved blade that glimmered with a cold light and had strange moves. He charged at Fu Xingchen, thrusting the blade like a venomous snake towards Fu Xingchen's throat. Fortunately, Fu Xingchen reacted swiftly, sidestepping just in time while counterattacking with his sword aimed at the leader’s chest. The leader hastily retreated to avoid the strike.
The two exchanged blows back and forth for several rounds. Fu Xingchen gradually realized that although the opponent's moves were peculiar, they also had many openings. Seizing an opportunity, he executed a killing move from the Starry Phantom Sword Technique called Chasing Stars and Pursuing the Moon. His sword traced a dazzling arc through the air as it pierced toward the leader. The leader could not evade in time and felt a cut on his arm as blood gushed out.
"You..." The leader was both shocked and furious; however, by this time, most of his subordinates had been injured or killed, and those remaining were losing their will to fight. Seeing this, he shouted loudly, "Retreat!" The men in black scattered and vanished into the forest.
The group watched them flee and let out a sigh of relief. Zhao Gang wiped sweat from his forehead and said, "Those guys sure can run fast!" Lin Yu emerged from hiding and said, "Fortunately, everyone is okay. But what were they really up to? The symbols on that stone platform look quite strange."
Su Yizhi approached the stone platform to examine the symbols closely. They were twisted and curved like some ancient script he had never seen before. After pondering for a moment, he said, "These symbols must have special significance; they might be related to some mysterious organization's conspiracy. We need to find a way to figure it out."
Fu Xingchen searched the surroundings and discovered some scattered papers covered in strange writings and symbols. He showed them to the group and said, "These might provide some clues." Mu Yunfan took the papers, examined them closely, and replied, "I can't understand these writings either, but we can ask someone knowledgeable."
With these clues in hand, they left the forest and returned to the town. They inquired around and eventually learned of a reclusive elder who was well-versed in various curiosities and ancient scripts. They decided to visit this elder, hoping to find some answers.
Upon arriving at the elder's residence, they respectfully explained their purpose and shared the papers and symbols they had discovered in the forest. The elder took the papers, put on his reading glasses, and studied them intently. Gradually, a serious expression spread across his face…
