As Fu Xingchen and Mu Yunfan returned to the small town, the sky was just beginning to lighten. The two hurried back to their lodging, where Su Yizhi, Lin Yu, and Zhao Gang were anxiously waiting. Upon seeing them arrive, everyone rushed forward.
Su Yizhi looked at the wound on Fu Xingchen's arm with concern and asked, "Brother Fu, what happened? Is your injury serious?" Fu Xingchen waved his hand dismissively and replied, "It's just a minor scrape; nothing to worry about. Last night we encountered trouble in the woods. It seems the mysterious organization was conducting an important ritual, and we were discovered and attacked."
Mu Yunfan then recounted the details of the previous night. After hearing his account, everyone’s expression turned grave. Lin Yu furrowed his brow and said, "It seems the actions of the mysterious organization are becoming more urgent. We need to come up with a countermeasure quickly."
After a moment of thought, Su Yizhi said, "The mysterious organization is powerful; we can't rely solely on brute force. Our immediate priority is to find out what kind of ritual they are conducting and what that mysterious power is."
Fu Xingchen added, "I think we can start with those men in black we encountered before. Although they are just low-level members of the organization, we might be able to extract some useful information from them." Mu Yunfan nodded in agreement, "Brother Fu is right. However, after we scattered them, it won't be easy to track them down."
Su Yizhi began pacing the room and suddenly stopped, saying, "We can spread rumors in the town that we've already left, making them let their guard down. Then we can observe from the shadows to see if we can draw those men in black out." Everyone agreed that this plan was feasible.
Thus, Lin Yu and Zhao Gang spread the word around town that their group had departed. Meanwhile, Su Yizhi, Fu Xingchen, and Mu Yunfan hid in the shadows, closely monitoring any activity in the town.
Two days passed without any unusual occurrences. Just as everyone was starting to feel disheartened, on the third night, several suspicious figures appeared on the streets of the town. Fu Xingchen's sharp eyes caught sight of their targets as he whispered, "Everyone be alert; those few are likely members of the mysterious organization." The group immediately focused their attention and quietly followed.
The men in black approached an abandoned house, glanced around cautiously before entering. Su Yizhi and the others carefully crept closer and hid beneath a window to eavesdrop on their conversation.
"I heard those people have left; we can finally breathe easy. But this ritual is very important; we can't afford any mistakes," one of the men in black said. Another responded grimly, "Hmph! Even if they’re gone, we mustn't let our guard down. The higher-ups ordered us to complete the ritual quickly and awaken that power."
Fu Xingchen's heart raced at this revelation. He exchanged a glance with Su Yizhi; they decided to go in and capture these men in black. With a shared understanding, Fu Xingchen suddenly burst through the door and shouted, "You villains! We've finally found you!"
The black-clad men were startled by this sudden turn of events and quickly drew their weapons.
"Thinking of escaping? Not so fast!" Mu Yunfan charged in behind him, blocking the doorway. Realizing they were cornered, the men in black attempted to break free, but Su Yizhi, Fu Xingchen, and Mu Yunfan worked seamlessly together to subdue them completely.
After a fierce battle, the men in black were subdued. Su Yizhi held his sword to the neck of the leader among them and demanded, "Tell me, what ritual are you performing? What is that mysterious power?" The man in black turned pale and hesitated before saying, "I... I can't say. If I do, I'm as good as dead."
Fu Xingchen stepped forward and declared, "If you don't speak, you'll die right now!" The man in black, frightened by Fu Xingchen's cold gaze, finally spoke up, "We are conducting the 'Dark Awakening Ritual.' It is said to awaken the Dark Power that lies dormant in the ancient tomb. This power possesses immense magical abilities that could allow one to rule the world, but I don't know the specifics. The ritual site is located in an ancient tomb west of the town."
Everyone was taken aback by this revelation. After a moment of contemplation, Su Yizhi said, "Regardless of whether this power is real or not, we cannot allow this mysterious organization to succeed. Let's head to that ancient tomb!"
