Chapter 5
I left the audition site directed by Gu Yan, my heart still racing uncontrollably.
His words, "I remember you," echoed in my ears, like a seed planted in the softest part of my heart.
"Qin Wan, calm down," I said to myself, patting my flushed cheeks. "This is just the beginning; don’t get carried away."
Stepping out of the building, the early summer sun poured down generously.
I took a deep breath, feeling a long-lost excitement swell in my chest.
Passing by a café, I decided to treat myself.
I ordered a latte and settled into a corner seat, opening my phone to browse through other audition information.
"I can't put all my hopes on Gu Yan's project," I reminded myself.
"Even if he has a good impression of me, it doesn’t guarantee I'll be chosen."
The competition in the entertainment industry was far more brutal than I had imagined.

I smiled and replied, "People always need to grow."
After hanging up the phone, I immediately began preparing my audition materials.
Meanwhile, I didn’t forget to send self-recommendation emails to several other directors and producers.
“Opportunities are fought for,” I said to my reflection in the mirror. “In this life, I will let my strength speak for itself.”
Late into the night, I remained seated at my desk, repeatedly pondering my character and practicing my lines.
The neon lights outside flickered, casting a glow on my tired yet determined face.
“No matter how bitter or exhausting it gets, it’s all worth it,” I whispered to myself. “One day, I will stand in the spotlight and let everyone see the real me.”
Including those who have hurt me in the past, including Shen Hao, including Su Man.

When I finally lay down in bed and closed my eyes, what came to mind was Gu Yan’s deep-set eyes and his words: “I remember you. Keep working hard.”
“I will,” I smiled in the darkness. “This is just the beginning.”
