The alarm blared sharply, piercing the air like a hundred ducks quacking in unison, giving Lin Yuan a headache.
“Zhao Yunfei, you traitorous scoundrel!” Lin Yuan pointed an accusing finger at Zhao Yunfei, wishing he could punch that hypocritical face. If it weren't for this guy leaking information ahead of time, they wouldn't have triggered the alarm as soon as they entered the base.
Zhao Yunfei, however, feigned innocence and shrugged dramatically, his acting skills rivaling that of a seasoned performer. “Brother Yuan, what do you mean? I don’t understand! I’m only doing this for the peace of the cultivation world, for the peace of the world, for the peace of the universe…”
“For the peace of the universe? Did you blow up the galaxy?” Lin Yuan rolled his eyes; it was a shame Zhao Yunfei wasn’t on stage instead.
“Enough with the nonsense!” Su Jiu'er interrupted coldly, her gaze sharp as a knife. “Do you think your little tricks can fool me? Every move you make is under my surveillance! If it weren't for Brother Yuan stopping me, I would have hung you up like a piece of dried meat!”
“Jiu'er, don’t waste time with him,” Lin Yuan waved his hand; now was not the time for settling scores. “Our time is precious. Let’s deal with the immediate trouble first. Those Qi Gong Association guys have probably been waiting to catch us off guard.”
As he spoke, he activated a 3D holographic projection that displayed the structure of the Experimental Base before them. The complex network of lines resembled a spider's web, with key nodes blinking red, dazzling to behold. “This is the Qi Gong Association's secret Experimental Base—easy to defend but hard to attack. We need to split into two teams: one for direct confrontation to draw their fire and another for infiltration to access the Core Area and gather crucial evidence while sabotaging their experimental equipment.”
Lin Yuan pointed at several marked points on the projection. “Here, here, and here are their important defensive facilities. The task of the direct confrontation team is to destroy these facilities and disrupt their deployment to create opportunities for the infiltration team.”
“Brother Yuan, I’m afraid our firepower won’t be enough for the direct confrontation team,” Zhou Haoran adjusted his glasses, frowning deeply. “Just us few won’t hold out long against them. They have Indestructible Vajra Technique and Great Cosmos Shift protecting them; we won't fare well in a head-on clash.”
“Hao Ran, have you forgotten about my new invention?” Su Jiu'er smiled mysteriously as she pulled out a palm-sized metallic box from her backpack, shimmering with dazzling technological brilliance. “This is my latest creation—the Spirit Amplifier! It can amplify our Lingqi tenfold! With this, we can take on hundreds and send them packing!”
“Awesome, Jiu'er!” Lin Yuan rubbed his hands together excitedly. “With this thing, we can really give them a run for their money! Let them experience what Scientific Cultivation means—dimensionality reduction strikes!”
“The task of the direct confrontation team is extremely challenging,” Lin Yuan’s expression turned serious. “I will personally lead the infiltration team. Jiu'er, you lead the direct confrontation team. Remember, your mission is to buy us as much time as possible.”
“Don’t worry, Brother Yuan,” Su Jiu'er confidently patted her chest. “I’ll make sure we complete our mission! Just watch how I make them regret crossing paths with us!”
Lin Yuan turned to Zhou Haoran. “Hao Ran, you’re in charge of logistical support—always ready to provide medical assistance. Your Revitalizing Wonderful Move is our greatest assurance.”
“No problem, Brother Yuan!” Zhou Haoran thumped his chest confidently. “Leave it to me! I’ll ensure everyone stays lively and ready for battle!”
Lin Yuan surveyed the other team members. “You’ll split into two groups to coordinate with Jiu'er and Hao Ran respectively. Remember, safety first—don’t be reckless! Coming back alive is what matters most.”
"Yes!" everyone responded in unison, their spirits high.
"Good!" Lin Yuan waved his hand. "Now, let's begin the operation!"
Leading the infiltration team, Lin Yuan utilized the Time Manipulator to silently bypass the base's AI Monitoring System and security forces. They moved like a group of ghosts, weaving through the darkness without triggering any alarms.
"Brother Yuan, your Golden Finger is truly incredible!" one team member exclaimed, unable to contain his admiration. "It's like a divine skill! We feel like we're walking on air; this is so exhilarating!"
"Stay low-key," Lin Yuan waved his hand dismissively. "Just basic operations. Back in my day, I..." Just as Lin Yuan was about to boast about his glorious past, his expression suddenly changed.
The alarm of the base blared like thunder, echoing through the skies!
"This is bad!" Lin Yuan's heart sank. "We've been exposed! That Zhao Yunfei must have some tricks up his sleeve!"
"What happened?" Su Jiu'er’s voice crackled through the communicator, tinged with urgency and concern. "What's going on over there?"
"We've been discovered," Lin Yuan replied grimly. "There might be other defenses in the base. That Zhao Yunfei has definitely set something up—damn it!"
"Brother Yuan, what should we do now?" a team member asked nervously, his grip on his weapon trembling slightly.
Lin Yuan took a deep breath and quickly made a decision. "We'll split into two groups. One part will continue towards the Core Area while the other will provide cover and delay as much as possible! Remember, our goal is to destroy the experimental equipment and gather evidence!"
"Yes!" everyone responded in unison, their eyes filled with determination.
Lin Yuan led a few people forward, but they soon encountered the elite forces of the Qi Gong Association. These elites were all skilled fighters, their Lingqi palpable, clearly not to be trifled with.
"Lin Yuan, you finally made it!" a burly man blocked their path. Dressed in black martial arts attire with eyes sharp as an eagle's, he was none other than Zhu Lie, a high-ranking officer of the Qi Gong Association.
"Zhu Lie!" Lin Yuan narrowed his eyes. "It seems you’re well-prepared. I thought you would be cowering in some corner."
"Hmph," Zhu Lie sneered, "Do you really think you can escape? Today is your day of reckoning! I will show you what true Qigong is!"
"Who will die at whose hands is still uncertain!" Lin Yuan retorted, activating the Time Manipulator. The world around them seemed to freeze in time. Only he and Zhu Lie remained caught in the flow of time.
In an instant, he appeared right in front of Zhu Lie, delivering a powerful punch! This strike contained all of Lin Yuan's Lingqi, moving so fast that it was nearly invisible to the naked eye.
Caught off guard, Zhu Lie was sent flying by Lin Yuan's punch, crashing heavily to the ground and spitting out a mouthful of blood.
"This..." The other team members were stunned; it was too fast! It felt like something out of a movie!
"Stop dawdling," Lin Yuan shouted, "Let's move!"
Snapping back to reality, everyone quickly followed him.
Just as they were about to reach the Core Area, a figure suddenly appeared in front of them.
"Su... Su Jiu'er?!" Lin Yuan exclaimed in shock, staring at the person before him. How could she be here?
But Su Jiu'er wore a cold expression, her eyes filled with murderous intent. "Lin Yuan, do you really think you can stop me?"
In her hand, she held a dagger that gleamed with a chilling light!
