After returning to the small town, the group handed over the man in black to the Government, expecting to take a brief rest. However, Fu Xingchen felt that things were not as simple as they seemed. The mysterious organization was powerful, and they would not simply give up after this failure. Thus, he gathered Su Yizhi, Mu Yunfan, and others to discuss their next steps.
"Although we thwarted their plot in the ancient tomb this time, the mysterious organization must have other plans. We cannot let our guard down; we need to actively seek out clues and stop them in advance," Fu Xingchen said with a furrowed brow.
Su Yizhi nodded in agreement. "Brother Fu is right. But in this vast sea of people, where do we even begin?" Mu Yunfan pondered for a moment before suggesting, "Even though those men in black were captured, they surely have other hideouts. We can track their movements and see if we can find any leads."
Zhao Gang scratched his head and said, "I'm not great at tracking, but I'm strong! Just tell me what to do!" Lin Yu adjusted his glasses and added, "I can help analyze the clues and see if there's anything we've overlooked."
With their plan set, they began their search. They first went to the abandoned house where the men in black had previously appeared and searched meticulously. Fu Xingchen crouched down, looking for any signs. Suddenly, he noticed some strange footprints on the ground—small and not resembling those of an ordinary man. "Everyone come look! These footprints are odd; they might belong to a female member of the mysterious organization," Fu Xingchen called out.
Su Yizhi approached to examine the footprints closely. "Based on the direction of these prints, they must have come from the east. Let's follow this path," he suggested. The group followed the footprints until they reached a dilapidated courtyard at the edge of the town. The gate was tightly shut, and everything around was eerily quiet.
Mu Yunfan cautiously approached the door and gently pushed it; it wasn't locked. He turned back to signal everyone to be careful before slowly stepping into the courtyard. The area was overgrown with weeds, and in the center stood a rundown house with torn paper on its windows that faintly let light through.
"There's someone inside," Mu Yunfan whispered. The group tightened their grips on their weapons and quietly moved closer to the house. Through a gap in the window, they saw several men in black conversing inside.
"This time Dark Power has been compromised; the higher-ups will definitely be furious. We need to find a way to make up for it," one man said. Another replied, "Fortunately, that Ancient Artifact was moved early; its power is even greater than Dark Power. Protecting it until the grand ceremony begins is our most important task."
Fu Xingchen's heart raced as he exchanged glances with Su Yizhi. Su Yizhi immediately pushed open the door and shouted, "You villains! What conspiracy are you plotting now?" The men in black were startled by the sudden voice and quickly drew their weapons.
"Hmph! It's you again! This time we won't let you off so easily!" one of them growled menacingly. Fu Xingchen sneered, "Who will not let whom off is yet to be seen!" With that, he charged inside, sword drawn, engaging in battle with the men in black.
Su Yizhi, Mu Yunfan, and others quickly joined the fight. The space inside was cramped, making it difficult for them to maneuver freely; however, they worked together seamlessly and gradually gained the upper hand. Zhao Gang swung his iron rod fiercely, pushing back any approaching foes. "No one gets away!" he shouted loudly.
Mu Yunfan's palms continuously struck the cloaked figure, forcing him to retreat repeatedly. "Tell me, where is the Ancient Artifact you mentioned?" Mu Yunfan demanded.
The cloaked figure remained tight-lipped, refusing to answer. Seeing this, Fu Xingchen pressed the tip of his sword against the throat of one of the cloaked men and said, "If you don't speak now, you might lose your life!" The cloaked man's face turned pale, and after a moment of hesitation, he replied, "I... I don't know the exact location. I only heard that it's in an ancient temple deep within Eastern Mountain, surrounded by many traps."
Fu Xingchen exchanged glances with Su Yizhi, who then said, "For now, we'll take your word for it. If you're lying to us, you know what will happen." The group bound the cloaked man and handed him over to the Government agents who arrived shortly after.
Once outside the courtyard, Fu Xingchen remarked, "Regardless of whether this information is true or not, we need to investigate. If that Ancient Artifact is activated by a mysterious organization, we'll be at a serious disadvantage." Mu Yunfan nodded in agreement. "You're right, but we need to prepare thoroughly. If there are traps in that temple, it will undoubtedly be very dangerous."
