Kaguya Tsukuyomi and Kiriya stood at the back of the room, their eyes scanning the surroundings as if to confirm the number of people present. After ensuring everything was in order, they remained still, waiting patiently. Were they going to stand there until everyone arrived and the trial content was announced? It was only afternoon; the event wouldn’t start until evening.
Li Yunqing approached the two of them. Kaguya Tsukuyomi and Kiriya looked at Li Yunqing and spoke in unison, “You, Lord Yunqing.”
“You know me?” Li Yunqing smiled at them.
Kaguya Tsukuyomi and Kiriya stared wide-eyed at Li Yunqing. “Mr. Taki mentioned you to us.”
Li Yunqing nodded and casually pulled out two small chairs, placing them behind the pair. Kaguya Tsukuyomi and Kiriya were slightly surprised by his ability to conjure chairs out of thin air but didn’t show it, quietly observing his actions.
After setting down the chairs, Li Yunqing placed his hands on their shoulders. “Please sit. We’ll get up once everyone is here.”
Kaguya Tsukuyomi and Kiriya bowed slightly. “Thank you for the chairs, Lord Yunqing.”
Li Yunqing waved his hand dismissively and returned to Sera and Lilu Lu, giving each of them a kiss on the cheek. The two girls seemed unable to contain themselves as they chatted away; they looked quite similar except for their different hair colors.
Sera and Lilu Lu clung to Li Yunqing’s arm, glancing over at Kaguya Tsukuyomi and Kiriya, who stood like statues, gazing around without moving. “Are they Lord’s children? They seem rather lifeless,” Sera remarked.
It was still acceptable, after all, if Lord died and the Demon King was not eliminated, someone would need to inherit the position, but it would all be male successors. Li Yunqing looked at Kiriya, wondering if he was the next Lord. He couldn't quite remember; he didn't read the manga and only recalled that at this moment, Lord was critically ill, and it wouldn't be long before Kiriya would ascend to the position.
Hours passed, and darkness fell. Kaguya Tsukuyomi and Kiriya stood up as they saw the last person arrive. Everyone around turned to look at them. Kaguya Tsukuyomi and Kiriya first bowed to the attendees.
"Thank you all for coming to the Final Trial of the Demon Slayer Corps tonight."
In this Teng Xiu Shan, they were holding captive a Demon Swordsman who had been caught alive; they could not leave this place. From the foothills to halfway up the mountain, wisteria flowers bloomed year-round, flowers that demons despised. Beyond that point, there would be demons lurking.
To survive for seven days here was the qualification for passing the Final Trial.
"Now, please proceed."
After speaking, they bowed to everyone again. The participants exchanged glances and began to walk behind Kaguya Tsukuyomi and Kiriya.
Li Yunqing watched as most of the participants finished walking past him and approached Kaguya Tsukuyomi and Kiriya. They were observing each participant entering when they turned back to Li Yunqing and walked over with a small chair.
"Thank you, Lord Yunqing," they said as they handed him the chair.
Li Yunqing accepted the chair and set it aside. Under the watchful eyes of Kaguya Tsukuyomi and Kiriya, Li Yunqing led Sera and Lilu Lu inside.
"Wishing you well, Li Yunqing."
