The three of them entered the forest, making their way toward the center. They did not hide their presence, walking boldly as two hidden demons, having not fed on humans for a long time, rushed out at the sight of such audacious humans, lunging toward Kei Yunqing and the others.
Sera and Lilu Lu instantly noticed the demons and placed their hands on their weapons, ready to draw at any moment. Kei Yunqing glanced over and saw that they were just two ordinary demons. He patted the heads of the two girls.
"Relax, they're weak demons, without Blood Demon Art."
Sera and Lilu Lu looked at the approaching demons without hesitation and struck out at their necks.
"Water Breathing, First Form: Water Surface Slash!"
A rush of water echoed as both demons had their heads severed cleanly. Sera and Lilu Lu retracted their weapons and crouched down to observe the corpses on the ground. Once a demon's neck was cut by a Nichirin blade, it would begin to turn to ash.
Sera and Lilu Lu watched quietly. Kei Yunqing embraced them from behind.
"When a person turns into a demon, they lose their sanity. I can tell they each killed two people—likely their family members. It's not their fault; it's the Demon King's fault. We just need to kill the Demon King."
Hearing Kei Yunqing's words, Sera and Lilu Lu turned around and hugged him tightly.
"I really hate the Demon King! I want to kill him!" Sera exclaimed.
Kei Yunqing gently patted Sera and Lilu Lu's backs.
"Alright, once Tanjirou has completed his training, we'll take him to kill Muzan."
They didn’t question why it had to be Tanjirou; Sera and Lilu Lu simply held onto Kei Yunqing in silence.
Kei Yunqing gave both girls a light pat.
"Let’s go."
The three of them continued onward. In fact, there weren't many ghosts in this area; at least Kei Yunqing and the others hadn't encountered many since their first encounter.
Kei Yunqing activated his Spiritual Power, and with his current level of power, he was able to completely envelop Teng Xiu Shan.
One member of a five-person team had started bleeding, and a horde of ghosts, sensing the smell of blood, rushed toward them like crazed beasts. Meanwhile, a massive figure was slowly moving in another direction.
Was it a Shougui?
Kei Yunqing pondered for a moment, thinking it might be better to let Tanjirou handle it; after all, a Shougui could serve as a good training stone. However, he wondered if Urin Taki would still allow Tanjirou to cut that largest and hardest rock once they passed the trial. If they didn’t cut it, Tanjirou might not be able to sever the Shougui's neck.
Forget it; once they passed the trial, he would mention it to Urin Taki on their way back and suggest that Tanjirou go chop the stone.
After walking for a while longer, they finally reached the central position, which was roughly at the peak of the mountain. There were only a few trees around. Kei Yunqing instructed the trees to move aside and created a small wooden cabin.
In this place, participants in the trial generally wouldn’t venture this deep. The ghosts knew that humans wouldn’t come this far and waited on the outskirts instead. Therefore, they wouldn’t be disturbed by other people or ghosts here.
Kei Yunqing watched as the member of the five-person team finished tending to his teammate's wounds before he turned his attention to other teams. It seemed like they were aware of where other teams were, perhaps having communicated in advance?
However, upon observing the number of people and ghosts around, he noted that there were still more ghosts than humans. Most participants were just ordinary fighters; one-on-one encounters with ghosts might be manageable, but in larger groups, they would struggle.
Kei Yunqing glanced at Sera and Lilu Lu. Although they couldn’t use Spiritual Power to sense their surroundings like he could, they did possess vision-enhancing magic. They noticed someone being surrounded and frowned with concern but didn’t take any further action.
Kei Yunqing patted them on the shoulder.
"Go kill some ghosts; aside from that one with many arms, you can handle the rest."
"Really? Can we?"
Sera and Lilu Lu looked at Kei Yunqing with a hint of excitement in their eyes.
