Unfortunately, even the simplest Breathing Technique requires some innate talent. They were not well-suited for Water Breathing, making it difficult for them to use effectively, and their speed was significantly reduced.
Nearby, the demons, even if not particularly powerful, could easily catch their feet the moment they tried to escape. A few ordinary participants were thus led away by several demons from the encirclement of the three Hakama boys. The trio watched as others were pulled out of their circle, their lips twitching in frustration.
Taking advantage of their distraction, the lead demon stealthily approached Liu Yu from the bushes. It had observed that Liu Yu was the weakest among them; his reactions were slow, his stamina lacking, although he did perform well with the Breathing Technique.
In an instant, while Liu Yu was unaware of his surroundings, the lead demon lunged forward, its claw aimed at Liu Yu's back.
Blood Demon Art: Claw Strike!
The demon's nails elongated and hardened, its speed increasing dramatically. In a flash, its claws pierced through Liu Yu's chest and emerged on the other side.
Liu Yu felt a sharp pain and looked down to see a dark, hard object protruding from his left chest. A surge rose in his throat and spilled out of his mouth as blood flowed freely.
The lead demon leaned against Liu Yu's shoulder and sniffed.
Delicious!
Then it sank its teeth into Liu Yu's neck.
Meanwhile, Lei and Yuuya finally noticed something was wrong with Liu Yu. They turned to see him coughing up fresh blood, a chunk missing from his neck and a gaping hole in his chest.
Liu Yu! Bastard!
The lead demon was particularly dark in color, especially at night. Having left their camp without torches, they could hardly see the demon crouched on Liu Yu's shoulder unless they looked closely.
Seeing that they had discovered it, the lead demon opened its bloody mouth and smiled at them before darting into the forest behind it.
Tsk.
Lei and Yuuya did not pursue; Liu Yu was already dead. There were still others alive here whom they needed to save.
Fueled by anger, their faces flushed red as their blood surged and their bodies heated up. The Breathing Technique they unleashed had become even more powerful.
Yet they only managed to save three people—those who had remained in the middle and had not been caught by demons. They had just killed a few of the fleeing demons, but those demons were too hungry; they had been devouring as they ran. Even when killed, the humans had already been bitten into pieces.
The remaining five looked at the ashes and severed limbs scattered around them, falling into silence.
"Are we still too late?"
Hearing voices behind them, they hurriedly turned around. In an instant, their sadness made them lower their guard. When they saw it was Sera and Lilu Lu, they breathed a sigh of relief.
Sera and Lilu Lu were familiar faces; they had seen them on the flat ground before. Who wouldn’t take a second glance at two stunning beauties?
Sera and Lilu Lu walked past them to look at the ground, where severed limbs lay scattered everywhere. A hint of anger flickered in their eyes.
They had just rushed over from a nearby area where the Five-Man Team had nearly been surrounded. By the time they arrived, Celestial Eye had already noticed that they were ambushed.
After calming themselves, Sera turned to the others. "You should bury them."
"And what about you two?" Lei asked, observing the calm expressions on their faces.
Under the moonlight, Sera and Lilu Lu's eyes shimmered.
"Let’s hunt down the demons!"
"I want to join!" Lei exclaimed upon hearing Sera and Lilu Lu's words.
Sera and Lilu Lu exchanged glances before shaking their heads.
"You’re too weak. You can’t even master Total Concentration Breathing Technique properly."
