Kei Yunqing looked at Ma Yi and confirmed that everything was fine before turning to Shino Aki beside him. Shino Aki, feeling shy under his gaze, clung to Kei Yunqing's arm and hid behind him, peeking out with one eye.
Kei Yunqing smiled at the adorable Zhi Ye. "Alright, no more hiding. It's your turn to speak."
Zhi Ye emerged from her hiding spot and looked at Kei Yunqing. "My last memory is of going to college and looking for a place to stay."
Kei Yunqing nodded. As a recent high school graduate, she was still small but had grown enough to be considered legal, right?
Something felt off. Ma Yi seemed like she had just finished her senior year of high school. Kei Yunqing shook his head.
He thought for a moment; he had just transformed into a human and entered the world of Demon Slayer to face demons. It didn't seem right.
So, Kei Yunqing brought the two girls back to Earth. The two only felt a brief dizziness before their surroundings changed.
"Where are we?" They looked around, finding the modern environment somewhat strange; there weren't many things like this in the place they had just come from.
"This is another world—a world without demons. Everything here seems normal for now," Kei Yunqing explained with a smile.
"Another world?" Ma Yi and Zhi Ye each picked up on that phrase.
"Yes, the place we just left was from a world called Demon Slayer. This is my original world, where there are no superpowers or supernatural beings," Kei Yunqing clarified.
"Let's take a look around."
Kei Yunqing guided Ma Yi and Zhi Ye through a tour of his home.
"This is the kitchen; I don't use it much. This is the bathroom, and over here is the balcony."
After showing them around, the three of them settled onto the sofa, sitting without getting too close to each other.
Kei Yunqing looked at Ma Yi and Zhi Ye sitting on either side of her and took their hands. The two girls were momentarily taken aback but did not pull away, allowing Kei Yunqing to hold them.
"By the way, do you want to see your original selves?"
"Huh? Is that possible?"
Although they were unsure if it was true, it was clear from Kei Yunqing's abilities that he was from a different world than theirs; otherwise, he could have simply taken them home directly. After all, with his powers, it should be quite easy for him.
"Of course I can," he said. With that, Kei Yunqing pulled out two tablets and began searching.
"Zhi Ren Sheng? Zhu Tou Shao Nian?"
As they looked at the anime displayed on the screens, Ma Yi and Zhi Ye fell into deep thought. They glanced at the tablets in their hands and then back at Kei Yunqing.
"We're characters from an anime?"
"Yes, you were turned into statues, I bought them, and now you've become human."
Ma Yi and Zhi Ye opened their mouths in surprise but said nothing further, continuing to watch the anime.
Kei Yunqing observed the two girls as they focused intently on the show. He remained silent, sitting on the balcony and watching the people coming and going below, lost in thought.
If every world has its own special rules created by the World Consciousness, what are the rules of Earth?
As time passes, do unique individuals emerge?
He recalled his previous conversations with Earth. A unique being appears every few hundred million years; the last one was a dinosaur, this time it’s humanity. When species evolve again, will another dominant species produce a unique individual?
Kei Yunqing shook his head and smiled. "Whatever will be, will be."
