After a week of intensive simulated testing and training, Neil felt tired but more determined. He was in his small yet advanced living space, filled with various high-tech equipment and screens. During these days, he experienced hundreds of different types of Multiverse—from highly developed technological worlds to socially stagnant ones, from peaceful coexistence to environments filled with war and conflict.
"Simulation 728—this universe made me realize the extremes and contradictions of ideology. I observed how people took different paths due to their beliefs, even leading to conflicts and wars. From here, I learned that knowledge alone cannot solve everything; what is needed more is deep understanding and empathy." Neil's hands moved quickly on the virtual keyboard, each word a burst from his innermost being.
He took a deep breath and turned to look at the night sky outside the window, which was filled with stars, but far less spectacular than the Multiverse he had observed. He recalled the week of training, where each simulation felt like a door leading to a whole new world and way of thinking. He felt that compared to a week ago, he had undergone a small transformation.
"Simulation 753 - this universe presents a kind of peace and rationality, but upon closer observation, I found that even in such a society, there are still problems and contradictions. This made me rethink, is peace and prosperity really the ultimate goal we pursue? Or are there more levels we need to explore?" After writing this passage, Neil paused, as if absorbing every word he had just typed.
In recent days, Neil has developed the habit of writing down his insights and thoughts after each simulation. This has not only deepened his understanding of the observed universe, but also raised more questions and doubts about himself and his organization - The Eye of the Philosopher. He knows that these questions and doubts are the key to changing the core of the world.
He closes his handheld device and gazes at the profound night sky outside the window, feeling a little excited and hopeful. He knows that the more he sees, the more he will understand. Through this series of simulation training, he has not only strengthened his observational and analytical abilities, but more importantly, he has begun to understand that in order to change the world, one must first start by understanding the world.
"No matter what I may encounter in the future, I am already prepared." Neil thought to himself, then gently closed the handheld device, sat down quietly, and looked forward to the new challenges and opportunities that tomorrow would bring.
Looking at the schedule on the projection computer, tomorrow would be the acceptance test for the simulation test, which also meant that he was about to complete his apprenticeship and officially become a qualified observer. After that, he would be able to participate in real observation missions, delving into various corners of the Multiverse.
The acceptance test this time is different from the past simulations, as it will take place in a real universe. This arrangement makes Neil feel both nervous and excited. He knows that the examiners will track his every move in real time through advanced observation techniques, evaluating everything from his decision-making process to the interpretation of observation data.
"The real challenge starts here," Neil thinks to himself.
He recalled all the simulated tests he had undergone, each feeling like a spiritual baptism. From the world dominated by extreme ideologies to societies with surface peace but underlying issues, these simulated experiences made him realize even more: to be an outstanding observer, one needs not only knowledge and skills, but more importantly, a profound understanding of human nature and the world.
Neil stood up, walked to the window, and gazed at the hazy night sky outside. He remembered his mentor Erin and her expectations of him. Erin had told him that the true mission of an observer is not just observation, but also deep reflection and interpretation of everything observed.
"Not only should you look, but you should also see through." This is the advice Erin gave to him.
He knew that tomorrow's test would be a watershed, as well as a new starting point. After passing, he would be qualified to go further and see more. And he was also ready to use his own eyes to explore the larger world, and to use his own heart to feel the good and evil, beauty and ugliness within it.
Before returning to his seat, Neil opened his handheld device and decided to make final preparations for tomorrow's test. He reviewed his past notes, practiced some observation techniques that might be useful, and carefully read through the principles and regulations of "The Eye of the Philosopher."
"No matter what I face tomorrow, I am already prepared," Neil thought to himself. He then gently closed his handheld device, lay back on the bed, and closed his eyes.
But he knew that the real journey was just beginning.
The next day, when Neil walked into the "Interstellar Rift" laboratory, he felt a kind of pressure, and the atmosphere was obviously different from usual. Erin, Sophia, and Macol were already there, and their faces looked particularly serious. In addition to them, there were also some senior figures from The Eye of the Philosopher, as well as an advanced robot that he had never seen before, undoubtedly the special device for this test.
"Good morning, Neil," Erin said calmly. "Are you ready?"
"Good morning, Erin, I am ready," Neil replied, although he was still a little nervous inside.
"Okay, let's get started," Macol interjected, walking over to the advanced robot and activating some control interfaces.
After a brief initialization, the robot's eyes emitted a blue light, and a virtual display suddenly appeared in Neil's field of vision.
"You are about to undergo a real observation test of the universe." Macol explained, "This robot will be responsible for recording your observation data and behavior for our evaluation. Please follow all the rules and guidelines of The Eye of the Philosopher, and remember, the most important thing is not to interfere with the world you are observing."
Neil nodded, reminding himself to remember this.
Sophia walked over to Neil and gave him an encouraging smile. "You will do great, Neil. Just believe in yourself and always maintain clear judgment."
Neil felt a sense of comfort. He knew that at this critical moment, he couldn't let his emotions affect the mission.
Erin walked to the control panel, operated it for a few moments, and then said to Neil, "After you're ready, please put on these special observation glasses. They will help you grasp the observation data more accurately."
Neil took the glasses and put them on. In an instant, he felt his field of vision expand immensely, as if the entire universe was unfolding before his eyes.
"Now, you can begin." Erin pressed a button.
Neil took a deep breath, and then a whole new world appeared in his sight. In that moment, he knew he was standing at the new starting point of his life and career.
In the laboratory, everyone was staring at the display screen, nervously observing every move and decision made by Neil. They knew that this was not only a test for Neil, but also an examination of the education and training system of The Eye of the Philosopher.
Neil focused and began his observation task, knowing that regardless of the outcome, this would be a day he would never forget.
