"Step aside! Step aside!" A group of guards clad in silver armor pushed through the crowd. Their armor bore the emblem of Starshine City, and they carried glowing weapons at their sides.
"They're the city guards," Old Mo whispered to Lin Yu, "don't cause any trouble."
The guards marched directly toward Lin Yu's stall. The leader of the group was a tall woman whose sharp gaze swept over the stall, finally resting on a Metal Disc.
"This is contraband," she said coldly. "According to City Ordinance No. 374, the sale of any items related to ancient relics is prohibited."
The stall owner turned pale. "This... this is just a decorative item..."
"Take him away!" The Female Guard waved her hand, and the guards behind her moved forward to seize the stall owner.
At that moment, Lin Yu suddenly felt a heat radiating from the mark on his wrist. He looked down and saw that the mark was glowing faintly with a golden light. Strangely, the Metal Disc also began to emit light, resonating with the glow of the mark.
"Wait!" Lin Yu instinctively shouted.
All eyes turned toward him. The Female Guard narrowed her eyes. "Who are you? Why—" Her words halted abruptly as she noticed the mark on Lin Yu's wrist.
The atmosphere suddenly grew tense and silent. Lin Yu could feel the shift in energy around him. Old Mo subtly shifted his position to stand in front of him.
"This is a new traveler," Old Mo said calmly, "who is quite curious about everything in the Phantom Realm. I believe there must be some misunderstanding."
The Female Guard ignored Old Mo and fixed her gaze on Lin Yu. "Raise your hands."
Lin Yu hesitated but complied. As the mark was fully exposed to everyone's view, gasps echoed around him.
"The Chosen One..." someone murmured.
The expression on the Female Guard's face became complicated. She glanced between Lin Yu and the still-glowing Metal Disc before finally waving her hand. "Fall back."
Though puzzled, the guards obeyed and left. The stall owner let out a sigh of relief and hurriedly stowed away the Metal Disc.
"What just happened?" Lin Yu asked, bewildered.
Old Mo sighed. "It seems we need to find a safer place to talk."
Just then, a clear voice rang out from behind them. "Perhaps I can help."
Lin Yu turned around to see a young girl standing not far away. She wore a simple White Robe and had a slender sword at her waist. What caught his attention most were her eyes, which were a rare silver color, as if they could see into one's soul.
"Xing Yu," Old Mo said in surprise, "what are you doing here?"
The girl smiled slightly. "I sensed a unique energy fluctuation and came to check it out. I didn't expect to encounter the legendary Chosen One." She turned to Lin Yu and gracefully bowed. "I am Xing Yu, the librarian of Starshine City."
A librarian who can sense energy fluctuations? Lin Yu was taken aback and awkwardly returned her greeting. "I am Lin Yu..."
"I know," Xing Yu interrupted, "your arrival has already caused quite a stir in certain circles. But now," she glanced at the growing crowd of onlookers, "we'd better find a different place to talk."
Old Mo nodded. "The library is a good choice."
Xing Yu led them through several alleys until they arrived in front of a magnificent building. It was a domed structure, its exterior made of translucent crystal that refracted a rainbow of colors in the sunlight.
Upon entering the library, Lin Yu was awestruck by the sight before him. Towering bookshelves stretched up to an unseen ceiling, filled with books of various materials. Some glowed softly, others vibrated gently, and some floated in mid-air.
Xing Yu guided them to a quiet corner, enclosed by the bookshelves into a small space. She waved her hand, and the runes on the shelves lit up, forming a soundproof barrier.
Wow, this girl has some serious power! Lin Yu thought to himself.
"Now we can talk," Xing Yu said as she sat down. "About that Metal Disc and your mark."
Lin Yu looked at Old Mo, who nodded in encouragement. He then recounted his experiences briefly, including how he arrived in the Phantom Realm, how he met Old Mo, and what happened at the city gate.
Xing Yu listened intently and said thoughtfully, "That Metal Disc, if I’m not mistaken, is one of the keys to ancient ruins. And your mark..." She glanced at Lin Yu's wrist. "It’s likely the key to unlocking some significant relic."
Old Mo furrowed his brow. "You mean..."
"Yes," Xing Yu nodded. "The legendary Star Relic. It is said to hold the oldest secrets of the Phantom Realm, and the key to unlocking it is the mark of The Chosen One."
Lin Yu felt his heart race. "Does that mean I can find a way home?"
Xing Yu and Old Mo exchanged a glance. "Perhaps more than that. The Star Relic may also conceal secrets about the essence of the Phantom Realm and..." She paused, "the reason why you were chosen."
Just then, an alarm blared throughout the library. Xing Yu's expression changed. "Someone has triggered the outer barrier!"
Old Mo immediately stood up. "We need to get out of here. Lin Yu, stay close to me!"
As they rushed out of the library, they saw a group of men in black rapidly approaching. They wore matching black uniforms with silver badges pinned to their chests.
"It's the Enforcement Team," Xing Yu whispered. "How could they..."
Before she could finish her sentence, the enforcement team had surrounded them completely. The leader, wearing a silver mask, spoke coldly: "Mr. Lin Yu, please come with us. The council requests your presence."
Lin Yu looked at Old Mo and Xing Yu; both wore serious expressions. He knew that what he was about to face might be even more dangerous than the Hunters.
Lin Yu was taken aboard a closed carriage by the Enforcement Team. The interior was lavishly decorated but felt oppressive. The windows were sealed with special runes, obscuring any view of the outside.
"Relax," said the Silver-Masked Man sitting opposite him. "We just need you to answer a few questions."
Lin Yu remained silent; he could feel his wrist mark warming slightly. The Phantom Spirit Fox had vanished at some point, which worried him but also relieved him—at least that little guy was safe.
After about half an hour of travel, the carriage came to a stop. Lin Yu was escorted out and found himself standing before an imposing building—a towering spire made entirely of Black Stone, its surface embedded with glowing silver runes.
As Lin Yu stepped into the parliamentary hall, he was struck by the sight before him. In the center of the circular hall was a massive star map, slowly rotating in mid-air. Surrounding it were tiers of seats that rose in concentric circles, already filled with lawmakers dressed in robes of various colors.
