"Where can we run to?" Lu Youyou thought, feeling helpless. "In this country, they can track us anywhere. And going abroad? Let's not even talk about the passport issue; customs would never let us through."
She turned to Xu Lie, wanting to convey that they should just run and see how long they could escape, instead of foolishly staying here. But when she glanced at him, she found him grinning from ear to ear, which made her blood boil. "You're still smiling!"
Earlier, when they were taking photos, he said he couldn't smile, but now that things were so urgent, he was grinning like an idiot? Was he out of his mind?
Xu Lie couldn't help but chuckle; Lu Youyou's reaction was just too amusing. She was genuinely concerned for him, yet he continued to laugh, which felt somewhat ungrateful. "So do you understand now?"
Lu Youyou was on the verge of hitting him. Why wasn't he panicking? Was he still playing riddles? Did she understand? She'd understand with a hammer!
However, Xu Lie's next words struck her like a thunderbolt: "If I had agreed to your earlier request, then you would be an accomplice in the bombing case."
In an instant, all the urgency and anger that had built up within Lu Youyou was extinguished like a flame doused with water. Accomplice? Yes, if she knew about it and didn’t report it, could she be implicated in harboring or concealing a crime?
In other words, even if Xu Lie had deceived her, it was for her own good—to prevent her from getting dragged into this mess.
Lu Youyou was a particularly sensitive girl. Once she grasped this point, all her previous sadness transformed into guilt. It didn't matter whether he had lied or made promises; she wanted to apologize for her earlier accusations. But she knew that saying anything now would be a waste of time.
Tears welled up in her eyes as she urged Xu Lie to run quickly.

Faced with the sudden change in attitude from the comments, Xu Lie nearly lost his composure. Many of the earlier criticisms turned into apologies or compliments directed at him.
He tried to refocus his mind and not get distracted by the comments. He wasn't lying to Lu Youyou; before all this trouble began, he had done his research on the laws of Script World online.
In a strict sense, failing to report knowledge of a crime is not considered a crime itself; harboring or shielding someone only applies when providing them with a hiding place or financial support. However, this is not absolute. Take two bombing cases, for instance, which are extremely heinous and have garnered significant public outcry. If we were to discuss them with severity, who knows how it might involve Lu Youyou?
Xu Lie stirs up trouble to enhance the excitement of the script, aiming to earn more Payment points. Once his business is done, he can leave the Script World. Lu Youyou, on the other hand, has family and her own life to consider.
Xu Lie wouldn't think too much about it; he only realized that people in the Script World are human when he was caught by Lu Youyou at the scene of the arson. He thought about getting Lu Youyou out of it: our text messages and call records could be scrutinized. At that point, it's highly likely someone would come looking for you, and you could simply shake your head and say you didn't know.
Of course, if you're foolish enough, you probably won't be able to fool professional investigators. In the end, you might act scared and claim that I threatened you into silence. As for the nature of the threat, feel free to make it up—something like if you don’t keep quiet, I’ll blow up your whole family or something along those lines.
