To show his sincerity, Anthony allowed everyone from the Investigation Bureau to leave first before stepping into the crowd of Cobra gang members. Ignoring the eager members beside him and the palpable malice in the air, he made his way directly to Charles.
Charles was leisurely smoking a cigar, exhaling clouds of smoke. Anthony, not in a hurry to persuade him, lit a cigarette for himself and said, "We should have a good talk."
Charles waved his hand, signaling his subordinates to take their men away first. The Cobra Boss commanded enough respect that no words were needed; with just a gesture, all the Cobra members withdrew, leaving even the driver of the Luxury Sedan behind. The driver understood and moved away to wait for later instructions.
As they left, the Cobra members exchanged glances, unsure if their boss truly supported Director Anthony's perspective on restraining them from making a scene with the UFO. They had initially considered posting about it online to attract attention and show off.
When asked about it, the subordinates shook their heads, indicating they should wait for Boss Charles to give orders and not act recklessly.
In just a few minutes, Anthony finished his cigarette while Charles’s cigar remained largely unchanged; all their subordinates had cleared out. At that moment, a figure slowly emerged from within the port.
If the Black and White factions that had been left behind saw this figure, they might have been stunned by this big shot. Was there really still a living person in this radiation-filled port?
Charles and Anthony were clearly unfazed. In fact, they quickly stepped forward to greet him. Charles maintained his warm and courteous demeanor, while Anthony’s expression shifted rapidly to one of friendliness, shedding his earlier sternness.
"Sir, tonight's mission was successfully completed," Xu Lie said with a slight nod, affirming their efforts. "You both did very well."
However, this scene was temporarily out of view for the audience because Xu Lie had exercised his authority as an actor and moved away the camera that had been following Charles.
Only then did Charles and Anthony relax and smile at each other. Each said in unison, "Serving you is our life's mission. We rely entirely on your plans; we dare not claim any credit."
In this scene, such flattery must never be leaked! If anyone were to witness it, both sides of the Black and White would bow respectfully towards Xu Lie. Whether it be the characters within the Script World or the Outsider Audience, they would surely be shocked, their scalps tingling with fear.
In reality, the Charles and Anthony before him are merely Bionic Persons customized by Xu Lie from the company. Before entering the Script World of Black and White, Xu Lie had already fabricated a Character Background for these two Bionic Persons. They replaced the roles of Cobra Boss and Director of Investigation in the story.
Just like how in the previous world of Cang Hai Jue, the role of the Second Prince was also replaced by Xu Lie. It is said that the higher the status of a character in the story, the greater the cost of replacement. Just for the positions of Charles and Anthony, creating their Character Backgrounds cost Xu Lie nearly two thousand points.
However, looking at it now, it seems to be worth every penny. At least the commotion caused tonight, its scale made Xu Lie feel that this expenditure was justified. This includes those two initial appearances of the Rookie Smuggler, who were also Bionic Persons. They were merely meant to serve as cannon fodder, so aside from their basic identity as Bionic Persons and a hundred points worth of Shooting Skill, nothing else was provided. Their Character Backgrounds were entirely omitted; they were complete outsiders in this world.
