William, with heavy dark circles under his eyes, picked up the remote control and changed the channel.
I can responsibly tell everyone that alien UFO technology is at least three hundred years ahead of us; our current scientific methods cannot detect the existence of UFOs at all.
He switched channels again.
A breaking news alert flashed across the screen: a small-scale riot had erupted in the Metropolitan East District, with many stores being smashed and looted. The on-site reporter stated that this was due to people's belief that the end was near.
As a newcomer to the Investigation Bureau, William had not slept well after experiencing such an intense event last night.
He got up, and as usual, watched the news while having breakfast, only to discover that the UFO incident from last night had already stirred up quite a commotion.
All major news networks were reporting on it; they couldn't keep it under wraps.
This meant that after the two figures known as Black and White left the port last night, negotiations between Director of Investigation Anthony and Cobra Boss Charles had broken down.
No one knew exactly how the two top figures from Black and White had discussed matters; all they could conclude from the spread of UFO news was that no agreement had been reached.
The Serpent had ultimately allowed the UFO news to leak out.
Damn it! William's mood soured as he ate breakfast; he slammed his fist against the sofa. How could those Serpent people do this?
Did they not realize that such actions would lead to a breakdown of the existing order?!
Director Anthony had already tried his best to negotiate, yet this was the outcome.
It was infuriating; they should uproot the entire Serpent organization!
In his anger, William was unaware that viewers were sending Danmaku messages surrounding him.

That sudden appearance of a UFO was indeed the root cause of the current chaos in Great Federation society.
But so what? What difference does it make to know? Can they be captured? No!
Just like humanity faces natural disasters every now and then—sometimes earthquakes, sometimes typhoons—bringing countless losses to people.
The root cause of all this chaos was painfully obvious: nature itself. What could humanity do against it? All they could do was hold it in.
Similarly, when disturbances arose from alien encounters, humanity could only endure. William slumped helplessly on the sofa, a sense of quiet despair washing over him. He had always believed that once he joined the Investigation Bureau, he could bring all evildoers to justice and make the world a better place.
Yet, encountering aliens was an entirely different matter. Not even the Metropolitan Investigation Bureau, let alone the entire Great Federation, could stand up to a single UFO.
A notification ping from his phone snapped William back to reality. He quickly grabbed his phone and answered. It was his captain, Pristo, urging him on the other end: "William! Where are you? Don’t go to the Investigation Bureau! Grab your sidearm and head to East District Cross Street! The scale of the riots is escalating. Director Anthony just sent me an urgent mission; we need to maintain order. Move fast—I still have to contact other team members!"
For a moment, William pushed aside thoughts of the UFO and focused on the task at hand. He quickly replied, "Yes! Captain! I’ll be there right away!"
He rushed back into his room, donned his bulletproof vest, grabbed his sidearm, and left without even having time to tidy up his breakfast or turn off the television.
As soon as he stepped outside, he realized how severe the situation was—the media frenzy had caused widespread panic. Traffic was at a standstill; it was an unprecedented jam. The once spacious four-lane road had been reduced to a narrow passageway for citizens, with cars nearly scraping against each other as they inched forward.
