Anthony silently nodded at Rims, then turned to pick up the laptop from his desk and handed it to Rims. "Not only that. As of just now, we have received inquiries from hundreds of countries worldwide. The appearance of Alien Life in the metropolis cannot be hidden any longer. Other countries will not turn a blind eye to this crisis that should unite all of humanity. Meanwhile, the upper echelons of our Great Federation are anxiously pushing forward the bill to disband the Investigation Bureau."
Although Anthony's true identity was that of a Bionic Person, with various plugins assisting him, he found it effortless to play the role of a human. The sense of irony, disdain for the upper echelons of the Great Federation, and concern for the future were all condensed into a single sigh.
When it came to acting skills, he was far superior to Xu Lie. Perhaps stirred by Anthony's sigh, William finally stopped being dazed. "Director, after we merge with the Alien Intelligence Agency, what can we do?"
"We found a message from Lie," Anthony replied. "It told us that only unexpected choices could give us a chance to defeat Alien Life."
Upon hearing this, Anthony relied on the powerful internal plugins in his brain to keep his expression unchanged, though he nearly laughed out loud. In fact, if he thought about it carefully, Lie's message was quite truthful. If the Great Federation acted methodically and everything unfolded according to Xu Lie's script, they would have no chance of turning the tide.
However, if they were to pull off some extremely unexpected maneuver, there might be a slim possibility of breaking Xu Lie's established narrative. It seemed that Xu Lie also enjoyed this situation and had made quite an impression on the audience.
What Anthony thought in his heart and what he said aloud were two entirely different matters: "The bill has already been put to vote. All parties within the upper echelons are tacitly advancing it, even entering an expedited state. In just a few days, the Investigation Bureau will cease to exist."
"By then, I will strive to bring both of you to the Extraterrestrial Intelligence Agency meeting and play back Lie's message you have." After all, this Alien Intelligence Agency had gathered numerous scientists; perhaps they could devise some way to defeat Alien Life.
What else could William and Rims say?
He could only agree with a heavy heart. Working overtime, with most of his former team members having fled, they had been promoted to the positions of Captain and Vice Captain. He hadn’t even sat in the Captain's chair for a day, and he hadn’t even been to the office yet when he discovered that the Investigation Bureau was on the verge of collapse. How could anyone feel motivated under such circumstances?
Anthony wanted to offer some comforting words, but just then, the red communicator on his desk began to ring urgently. His expression changed instantly; that was the most critical communicator, not something to be activated lightly. He hurried over to answer it. “What’s going on?!”
There was no need to ask who was on the other end or to confirm anything; any communication of this level indicated that something significant affecting the entire Great Federation had occurred. Rather than nitpicking over minor details, it was better to find out what had happened.
“Anthony,” came a voice filled with regret and anguish from the other end. “Those idiots at the Extraterrestrial Intelligence Agency have messed things up.” They had contacted an elderly Arms Tycoon, preparing for an operation codenamed Extinguish Fire. Unfortunately, Extinguish Fire had failed.
