William dared not stop for a moment as he dashed into the dark alley, using a running leap to vault over a high wall by stepping on a trash can. He skillfully maneuvered around the surrounding objects, leaving the onlookers in awe.
"Has William practiced parkour? He climbs those walls with such grace!"
"Run faster, William! If the Stinger catches up, it could be the end for you!"
"Wow, that guy in front, Danmaku, is really something!"
William could feel his heart pounding wildly, like a pump driving blood through his veins, fueling his escape. He had no idea how many walls he had scaled or where he was now; all he knew was that the sounds of pursuit had faded behind him.
Finally managing to suppress his desperate gasps for air, he tried to steady his breathing and remain quiet. But soon enough, he realized he no longer needed to be so cautious because the noise around him had intensified.
A thunderous roar echoed in the air as flames erupted from the Suburban Security Line they had just crossed! The overwhelming firepower seemed intent on lighting up the entire sky, tearing apart the darkness of night. The cacophony of artillery fire was more than enough to drown out William's heavy breathing.
The sheer heat and force made him acutely aware of how insignificant a human could feel in the face of such power. But even more dramatic sounds were about to unfold.
Several Armed Helicopters soared out from the city, while armored vehicles rolled down the main roads, gearing up for battle. Moments later, lights flickered on in countless homes around him, transforming the atmosphere from silence to chaos.
The explosive noise and the buzzing of Wuzhi, along with the relentless flow of armored vehicles, made it clear to all residents of this city what was happening. War had broken out—this was a Civil War.
Only William, who had just fled in panic, was a beat slow to react, still pondering what exactly was going on. This was the deepest confusion in his heart until he suddenly realized everything and slammed his fist against the nearby wall.
"Fack! The Great Federation has gone to war?! We, Rims, and Anthony are still here!!"
Damn it, damn it! How could they just mention it without any warning? William was filled with rage; he had never imagined they would be treated as expendable pawns.
It wasn't just their Stealth Team; the entire city was likely crawling with hidden squads. And there were other Stealth Teams from different cities throughout the Sherwood region. How many operatives were lurking in the shadows, only to fall victim to friendly fire?
They hadn't even given them a heads-up, not a single chance to retreat before severing communications.
The more William thought about it, the angrier he became, and he slammed his fist against the wall twice in frustration. He could swear that if the high-ranking officials of the Great Federation stood before him, he would make them feel the force of his punches.
The audience was no longer calm either, actively sending out Danmaku messages.
"Are they really going to fight? Is this war starting now? Wow, the Great Federation is so decisive! They’re coming in hot with artillery?"
"What about William? The Great Federation is ruthless; they don't even care about their own intelligence operatives."
