The avalanche struck with the speed of lightning, and in the blink of an eye, the snow waves surged down like a tidal wave. Faced with this sudden disaster, the few individuals had no time to think deeply; they could only instinctively flee downhill. However, even with their exceptional agility, escaping the clutches of the avalanche proved impossible. They had barely run a mile when the enormous wave of snow, darkening the sky and swirling with snow dust, thundered down like a white tsunami, overwhelming and terrifying. 0

In this heart-stopping moment, although they were close to each other, the blinding snow dust obscured their vision, making it impossible to see one another's faces or expressions. Lin Xiu held two infant girls in her arms, clearly terrified, and they began to wail loudly, their cries echoing tragically in the icy wilderness. Lin Ning was frantic; he ran desperately while shouting, "Xiu'er, stay close to me!" Yet before his words could fully escape his lips, a scream pierced through the chaos. White Jade Peak had suddenly found the ground beneath him collapsing, causing him to lose balance and slide rapidly down with the falling snow. 0

Lin Ning and Lin Xiu were both taken aback. In a state of panic, they reached out simultaneously to grab White Jade Peak. However, since Lin Ning was carrying Yuan Yueming on his back and Lin Xiu was holding two infants, their movements were severely restricted, and they were ultimately too slow. In an instant, White Jade Peak's figure vanished like a shooting star from their sight, seemingly swallowed by the white waves of snow. 0

Lin Xiu's heart raced with anxiety as her voice echoed against the howling winds of the snowy landscape: "Yufeng, don’t scare me! Hurry up and come back!" But her calls received no response. Her cries grew louder as tears blurred her vision; she continued shouting, "Yufeng, where are you? Please answer me!" Meanwhile, Lin Ning quickly placed Yuan Yueming on the ground without hesitation and leaped into the bottomless snow pit. Inside was pitch black; he slid down the snow slope rapidly, hearing only the whistling wind and his own racing heartbeat. After sliding about a hundred meters, he finally caught sight of a corner of White Jade Peak's clothing. 0

Lin Ning's heart leaped with joy as he hurriedly dug through the snow above. When he finally saw White Jade Peak's face clearly, his heart tightened—White Jade Peak looked pale as paper and breathed weakly as if he might die at any moment. "Yufeng, don’t be afraid! I’m here to save you!" Lin Ning shouted loudly. "Hold on tight!" White Jade Peak slowly opened his eyes. Lin Ning struggled to lift him onto his back and began to climb upward with great difficulty. However, the snow was exceptionally soft; each step felt like walking on cotton wool, and if he wasn’t careful, he would slip. 0

Lin Ning gritted his teeth and desperately grabbed onto the snow wall to stabilize himself. Just as he was about to climb out of the pit, White Jade Peak suddenly lost his balance and fell like a kite with its string cut into the depths of the pit. "No!" Lin Ning cried out in shock as he watched White Jade Peak disappear from view. In that moment of falling, White Jade Peak used his last ounce of strength to shout: "Second Brother, take care of Xiu'er and her three children! And... Old Hero Xiong Yanbi wasn’t killed by Ms. Yuan; it was me and Yang Yan who did it!" With that cry, White Jade Peak's figure vanished completely into the dark depths of the snow pit as if swallowed by endless white snow. 0

Lin Ning stared in disbelief at where White Jade Peak had disappeared; a tumult of emotions surged within him like a spilled jar of mixed flavors. Despite White Jade Peak’s many misdeeds, he was still Lin Xiu’s husband; Lin Ning couldn’t bear to see him leave this world so abruptly. At the same time, guilt washed over him for wrongly accusing his junior sister Yuan Yueming. She had suffered so much injustice innocently because of his misjudgment. If it weren’t for White Jade Peak’s sudden revelation before death about the truth behind everything, Lin Ning might have continued to wrongfully blame his junior sister and subject her to more suffering. 0

These thoughts flashed through Lin Ning’s mind like lightning; he knew this was not a time for sorrow—there were more pressing matters at hand. He suppressed his grief and gritted his teeth as he continued climbing upward. 0

Finally, Lin Ning emerged back onto the snowy ground. Lin Xiu had been anxiously waiting there; upon seeing him, she rushed forward eagerly and asked urgently: "Second Brother, where’s Yufeng?" After a moment of silence, Lin Ning slowly replied: "Yufeng... couldn’t be saved." At these words, Lin Xiu felt as if struck by lightning; her body swayed violently as if she might fall over. Tears streamed from her eyes like a flood breaking through a dam. 0

Seeing this reaction, Lin Ning quickly moved to support Lin Xiu and comforted her: "Xiu'er, I know you’re heartbroken but now is not the time for sorrow. We must find a safe place quickly to avoid further danger." With that said, he hoisted Yuan Yueming onto his back again and urged Lin Xiu: "Xiu'er, let’s go together." 0

However, it seemed as though Lin Xiu hadn’t heard him at all; her eyes were fixed blankly on the snow pit that had buried White Jade Peak as if something within it drew her attention irresistibly. The merciless wind whipped around her fiercely but couldn’t budge her an inch; gradually she became enveloped in snow like a snowman merging into its surroundings. 0

After what felt like an eternity, Lin Xiu finally turned slowly around; her movements appeared sluggish as if her body no longer belonged to her. She looked expressionlessly at Lin Ning and spoke in an almost indifferent tone: "Second Brother... Yufeng has done so many heinous things; I apologize on his behalf. But no matter what... he is still my husband; I just can’t bring myself to hate him!" Before she finished speaking, it seemed she made up her mind suddenly; without hesitation she leaped straight into the pit that buried White Jade Peak. 0

As she was about to plunge into the depths of despairing darkness below, time seemed to freeze in that instant. Yet in that fleeting moment, Lin Xiu used all her strength to throw both daughters towards Lin Ning with all her might. In that instant of decisive action lay what seemed like all meaning in her life. 0

The two daughters flew through the air after being thrown by Lin Xiu in an arc before landing safely in Lin Ning’s embrace. Watching them escape danger brought a slight smile of relief to Lin Xiu’s lips. Then her figure drifted down into that deep pit like a light snowflake slowly falling away until she disappeared beneath the vast expanse of white. 0

Lin Ning stared wide-eyed at the direction of the pit where she had vanished as if trying to see through layers of thick snow what lay inside. His eyes filled with pain and shock as tears streamed down uncontrollably from them. At that moment everything around him seemed frozen; silence enveloped everything except for drifting snowflakes gently falling as if mourning for Lin Xiu’s bravery and resolve. 0

In this quiet snowy landscape filled with despairing echoes of loss rang out from Lin Ning’s voice: "No! Xiu'er! Your parents are still waiting for you at home! How can you leave them behind?" Yet that vast pit remained silent like an abyss without any response. His cries were torn apart by winds across the desolate snowy fields. 0

Bai Ruyun and Bai Ruoshui seemed to sense their mother’s departure too; trembling in Lin Ning’s arms they began crying loudly—a sound piercing straight through both his heart and Cong Rong’s heart like daggers causing unbearable pain. 0

Unable to endure this torment any longer after handing over both infants to Cong Rong—like someone driven mad—Lin Ning jumped into that pit himself. The darkness within was profound; relying solely on dim light along with familiarity towards Lin Xiu he called out loudly while struggling through thick layers of snow searching for her. 0

Suddenly his hand brushed against something soft—his heart leaped with joy! He quickly embraced whatever it was tightly only to discover it was indeed Lin Xiu! His heartbeat quickened instantly as he wrapped both arms around her tightly but when he saw how she looked worry replaced joy immediately. 0

Lin Xiu lay there with closed eyes—her complexion pale as paper—lips blue from cold—breath faint almost nonexistent—as if she might slip away at any moment. 0

"Xiu'er! Wake up!" His voice rang out desperately amidst raging storms outside sounding particularly mournful while trembling from fear and despair tears flowed freely from his eyes like torrents breaking through levees. 0

He held onto her tightly hoping against hope that somehow this would bring her back from death's edge—her body felt so fragile against him almost weightless—as if one gust could carry her away forever. 0

Lin Ning shook her gently repeatedly calling out hoping she'd respond but received no answer except for that pale face staring blankly back at him—their silence only deepening despair within him further still. 0

The wind seemed less fierce yet biting cold remained unrelenting—a force gnawing away at both body and soul alike—his lips turned purple from frostbite while fingers lost feeling due prolonged exposure yet none mattered—all thoughts focused solely on waking up Xiu'er again! 0

He whispered softly near her ear filled with agony pleading: "Xiu'er! Please wake up! You can’t leave me like this..." Time stretched endlessly in that moment every second dragging painfully long—he didn’t know how long he'd been calling until suddenly felt movement against him—a fluttering eyelash! 0

His heart soared! He leaned closer whispering urgently: "Xiu'er! Can you hear me? Open your eyes!" 0

After some moments passed slowly those beautiful eyes fluttered open revealing dullness lacking luster—they gazed weakly upon him struggling for breath while managing a faint smile barely audible: “Second Brother... I... I won’t see you again... Please take care of our children…” 0

With those final words spoken she seemed drained completely closing those precious eyes once more surrendering herself entirely into darkness. 0

Lin Ning felt ice grip around his heart unable accept reality tears flowed freely down cheeks unrestrained “No! Xiu'er! We’ll be fine—I’ll get you home…” 0

He murmured softly rising unsteadily clutching tightly onto lifeless form carrying each step laboriously upward toward daylight beyond snowy abyss ahead—the storm raged furiously around them whipping mercilessly against skin slicing through flesh like daggers bringing excruciating pain every step taken felt heavier than lead weighing down spirit relentlessly dragging deeper into despair yet determination burned bright refusing surrender! 0

Each stride forward became monumental effort battling against nature itself struggling onward despite exhaustion threatening collapse looming ever closer—but still hope flickered faintly within heart holding tightly onto belief they would make it! 0

Finally grasping hold edge stone ledge after countless agonizing attempts—he pulled himself along dragging lifeless body alongside fighting against gravity itself until finally emerging victorious gasping fresh air filling lungs anew! 0

Lin Ning collapsed exhausted lying before entrance feeling drained utterly empty yet tears continued flowing unabated freezing instantly against skin leaving trails behind—a floodgate opened memories flooding back moments shared laughter echoing past days spent together upon Yunshan Island carefree enjoying poetry songs laughter shared amongst friends now mere shadows lost forever… 0

But now everything lay shattered beyond repair—Hu Xueyan gone far away Japan leaving no trace behind while brother also vanished without word leaving emptiness behind—and now beloved wife lost forever cold unforgiving Borderlands never returning home again… 0

Life's unpredictability mirrored flowers blooming then wilting inevitably leading toward inevitable end—all encounters fleeting moments passing by unpredictably leaving behind bittersweet memories lingering long after gone… 0

As winds howled carrying echoes through frozen landscape surrounding him—the sound grew increasingly mournful resonating deeply within soul questioning fate itself cruel injustice inflicted upon them all… 0

Drowning amidst sorrow unable escape regret flooding mind wishing never came Changbai Mountain believing if hadn’t come here none would’ve perished instead left alone suffering consequences choices made… 0

Regret intertwined longing surged forth deep within heart unable find solace lying amidst raging storm tasting bitterness fate dealt… 0
