Monroe's beauty was that of a cold elegance laced with a hint of pride. She stood there like a pure white lotus, untouched by the mundane world, making it difficult for anyone to approach her. Every movement she made seemed meticulously choreographed, exuding an air of nobility with each graceful gesture.
The guests around her, both men and women, were captivated by her stunning appearance. Some of the male guests even went so far as to flaunt their wealth and status in hopes of getting closer to her. The atmosphere at the ball reached a fever pitch.
Jiang Chen stood to the side, quietly observing everything. His gaze occasionally fell on Monroe and then shifted to the surrounding guests. He had little interest in the elite and celebrities of this world, but Monroe's vampire lineage piqued his curiosity.
Vampires were a mysterious and ancient race, holding a significant place in European history and legend. They fed on blood and possessed extraordinary strength and longevity. However, in modern society, their existence had become discreet and low-key, with few able to truly interact with them.
Jiang Chen understood that the bloodline of vampires was incredibly precious, making descendants like Monroe rare. Her beauty and poise were not solely due to her vampiric nature but also a result of her noble upbringing and the environment in which she was raised.
As time passed, the ball gradually reached its climax. Monroe was surrounded by numerous pursuers, yet she maintained a faint smile, engaging in brief conversations without accepting any invitations.
Jiang Lu watched this scene with growing anxiety. She nudged Jiang Chen's arm and said, "Brother, aren't you going to give it a try? If you wait any longer, there won't be an opportunity."
Jiang Chen smiled slightly and replied, "Xiao Lu, don't worry. I don't think I belong in such gatherings. Besides, I'm not particularly interested in these so-called balls and socializing."
"Are you just going to watch other men approach her?" Jiang Lu said with some reluctance.
"Everyone has their own way of living and making choices; I won't force anything," Jiang Chen replied calmly, his gaze still fixed on Monroe.
At that moment, Monroe seemed to sense Jiang Chen's attention. She turned her head and briefly locked eyes with him. Jiang Chen nodded slightly as a greeting. Monroe returned with a faint smile before turning back to the people around her.
This small interaction only deepened Jiang Lu's curiosity. She leaned closer to Jiang Chen and whispered, "Brother, do you know this Countess?"
Jiang Chen shook his head and said, "Not really; we just exchanged a glance."
"Then why did she smile at you?" Jiang Lu pressed further.
"Perhaps it was just out of politeness," Jiang Chen replied softly, a subtle smile flickering in his eyes.
Qin Xusha observed Jiang Chen and Jiang Lu's interaction from the side, feeling somewhat conflicted. She sensed that Jiang Chen held little emotional fluctuation towards Monroe but couldn't be entirely sure. Deciding not to dwell on it further, she shifted her focus back to the other guests at the ball.
As time went on, the atmosphere of the ball grew increasingly lively. The band struck up an upbeat dance tune, prompting guests to take to the dance floor for a waltz. Monroe was invited by a young nobleman to be his dance partner.
Jiang Chen stood by the window, quietly admiring the night view outside. His mind was occupied with thoughts on how to assist Ni Xingyi with her fashion show issue. Although he had a rough plan in mind, further details still needed arranging.
"Mr. Jiang, what are you thinking about?" A gentle voice came from behind him.
Jiang Chen turned around to see Qin Xusha smiling at him.
"I was thinking about how to help Miss Ni resolve her problem," Jiang Chen said candidly.
"Do you really have a way to invite Mengli Delson?" Qin Xusha asked curiously.
Jiang Chen smiled slightly and replied, "I have my methods; you don't need to worry too much. For now, let's just enjoy this ball."
