After having breakfast, Yu Songyu tucked the little dog into her arms and stepped outside. Dressed warmly for winter, it was hard to tell how thick her clothing was.
"Xiao Yu, where are you going?" Yang Qinghe asked as he hurried over when he saw her rushing out.
"I'm off to work! What about you?" she replied. Her home was quite far from the workplace, and it was clear he had come specifically to see her.
He stepped closer, wanting to surprise her. "Don't move!"
Just then, the little dog in Yu Songyu's arms kicked out with its paws. Startled, she quickly covered her chest and exclaimed, fearing that the little pup might fall and get hurt.
"I won't do anything to you!" he said, stopping in his tracks, hesitant to come any closer. Did this girl really think he would do something to her in broad daylight? There was no need for her to clutch her chest so tightly.
As he was about to explain himself, he suddenly noticed something moving at Yu Songyu's chest.
"Is it moving?" He stared in disbelief at her chest, his mind momentarily blank.
"What are you thinking?!" Yu Songyu stepped forward and delivered a light punch to his chest.
"It's a puppy! A little puppy!" She exclaimed as she pulled open her outer coat to show him. Indeed, there was a small dog nestled inside.
"Oh no!" A cry of alarm rang out. Both of them quickly turned their heads to see someone lying on the ground not far away, seemingly having fallen hard.
"Isn't that Li Xiu Zhen and the others?" Yu Songyu and Yang Qinghe recognized the person and rushed over to check on them.
"Ouch! This is killing me! It hurts so much, I think I pulled my back!" Wang Jianjun cried out, one hand clutching his waist while the other braced against the ground.
Xu Zhuzhen slowly helped him up and brushed the snow off his clothes. "With a road this wide, how could you possibly fall?"
Yu Songyu couldn't help but tease him. Their group had grown close, and joking around had become second nature. "Hey? If it weren't for you two being so reckless, I wouldn't have missed that patch of ice on the street!"
Wang Jianjun rubbed his waist, looking utterly wronged, groaning in pain. "What patch?"
"What patch?" Yu Songyu and Yang Qinghe echoed in unison, both confused.
"Tsk tsk tsk, you two really have no shame! You even went so far as to take off your clothes right there!" Wang Jianjun was genuinely shocked; he never expected them to be so bold in public. Was it really necessary to be that eager? It was downright scandalous!
"You idiot!"
"You idiot!" This time, both of them not only spoke in unison but also delivered a simultaneous light smack on Wang Jianjun's head, showcasing their previous camaraderie.
"Ouch!" Wang Jianjun yelped in pain, unsure whether to cover his head or rub his back.
"Dog! I was just showing him a dog!" Yu Songyu exclaimed as he pulled open his outer coat to reveal what he meant. "What kind of people are you two with such filthy thoughts?"
"Well, you didn't need to hit him like that! He just pulled his back!" Xu Zhuzhen murmured softly, her eyes betraying a hint of concern.
Seeing this scene unfold, Yu Songyu and Yang Qinghe exchanged knowing smiles. These two were definitely up to something.
"How are you feeling? Do you need to go to the clinic?"
Yang Qinghe had been worried about Wang Jianjun, who had been holding his waist for quite some time, fearing that he might have actually hurt himself.
"No, no, I think I'll just go back and rest!"
"Then Captain Yang, I won't be going today either. We can't do this without people!"
Wang Jianjun was about to argue when Xu Zhuzhen's sharp gaze swept over him, causing him to quickly shut his mouth.
