"Yang Qinghe, did we take a wrong turn?"
"Yu Songyu, even though I'm not great with directions, I can clearly tell that this road is completely different from the one we should be on."
Before Yang Qinghe could respond, Yu Songyu noticed a shadow darting past in front of them, something seemed to have run by.
"What was that?"
As she focused her gaze, she realized it was a fluffy little gray rabbit, hopping away in front of them.
Having never hunted before, Yu Songyu suddenly felt a surge of excitement and began to clap her hands at Yang Qinghe. "Look, a rabbit! A rabbit!"
Without waiting for a reply, she took off in the direction of the rabbit, her laughter ringing out like clear bells as she chased after it.
Yang Qinghe watched her joyful figure, light and graceful like a butterfly dancing across the snow. Unable to resist, he followed her.
In the pristine white snow, Yu Songyu, wearing a red scarf and hat, leaped about, looking so beautiful and lively.
This scene left Yang Qinghe mesmerized. The girl’s lovely face, her charming figure, and her sweet laughter were etched deeply in his mind at that moment; he felt he could remember this image for a lifetime.
At that moment, nothing else mattered to him; his heart and eyes were filled only with thoughts of her.
As Yu Songyu ran along, she suddenly stopped and called out to Yang Qinghe because she noticed the rabbit had vanished.
Unbeknownst to her, Yang Qinghe had been following closely behind and they collided with each other, losing their balance and falling into the soft snow together.
Though the snow was soft, Yang Qinghe instinctively protected Yu Songyu's head with his large hand as they fell.
With him on top and her beneath him, the angle was undeniably intimate.
Yang Qinghe's throat tightened as his gaze grew heated; he could no longer contain the surge of emotions within him.
Leaning down, he captured Yu Songyu's soft lips in a deep kiss.
Yu Songyu felt herself stirred by his kiss and slowly parted her lips, allowing the commanding general to invade her territory with abandon.
Before long, both were breathless yet reluctant to let go of each other.
Just as they were lost in their passionate kiss, they suddenly heard something passing nearby.
As they looked up, they spotted a Roe Deer just a meter away, happily bounding forward. Suddenly, it crashed into a nearby tree branch and got stuck tightly.
"Look at that!" Yu Songyu and Yang Qinghe exchanged amused glances. They had only heard stories about silly Roe Deer before, and now they had actually encountered one. It felt like an effortless stroke of luck.
Yang Qinghe pulled Yu Songyu to his feet, took out a rope, and approached the trapped Roe Deer, tying it up securely. With one hand holding onto Yu Songyu and the other dragging the Roe Deer, they began their descent down the mountain.
"Xiao Yu, where have you been? It's almost dark!"
As they entered the village and headed home, a raspy voice called out to them.
"Li Xiu Zhen! Where are you going? How's Wang Jianjun?"
Yu Songyu recalled the lingering kiss they had shared and felt a sudden pang of guilt. He quickly turned the conversation around to take the initiative.
"He's fine; he didn't twist his waist. A few days of rest will do him good."
"Oh, we were worried! Yang Qinghe and I even went out to catch this Roe Deer, thinking it might help him recover!"
Yu Songyu grinned mischievously and pointed to the Roe Deer being dragged by Yang Qinghe.
"Wow, more meat for us!"
Xu Zhuzhen's eyes lit up at the sight of food; to her, that Roe Deer probably looked like a pot of stewed meat.
"It's getting late. You should invite Wang Jianjun over tomorrow for some fun since we won't be working!"
