What Grandma Wu said resonated with Yu Songyu.
"Alright, I promise you!"
Yu Songyu's quick agreement took Grandma Wu by surprise.
"My grandparents passed away early, so from now on, you will be my dear grandmother!"
With a sincere smile, Yu Songyu spoke those words. Upon hearing her refer to her as "dear grandmother," tears streamed down Grandma Wu's face uncontrollably.
"Alright, no more crying, Grandma! You have me, your great-granddaughter! From now on, let’s live our lives well together!"
Yu Songyu's tone was soothing, as if comforting a child, as she embraced Grandma Wu.
"Oh! There’s something I forgot to mention!"
Suddenly remembering that she had already recognized her as a grandmother back in Shi Gou Village, she recounted the details of the recognition ceremony to Grandma Wu.
She had indeed chosen well; this child had a good character.
"Then let’s call you 'Maternal Grandmother.' It sounds even closer than 'Grandma!'"
Grandma Wu was primarily concerned with Yu Songyu's character; whether she was called 'Grandma' or 'Maternal Grandmother' didn’t matter much to her.
Since they had established this bond, Yu Songyu planned to take Grandma Wu back to Shi Gou Village to let the two elders meet each other. To her surprise, the moment the two old ladies met, they hit it off immediately and left Yu Songyu feeling sidelined.
These two old friends shared similar temperaments and personalities, which was rare. Seeing them so happy chatting away, Yu Songyu decided not to interrupt and retreated to her own room.
Yang Qinghe and Li Xiuzhen hadn’t come down yet, so she took this opportunity to enjoy some time in her space.
After taking a hot bath, she felt completely relaxed all over. Perhaps due to the comfort of it all, after her bath, Yu Songyu lay back in the rocking chair and drifted into a deep sleep.
"Brother, the master is asleep again! Every time she comes back, it’s either eating or sleeping!"
"Let the kids stay out of adult matters!"
Every day, we are confined to the yard and not allowed to play outside. Even if we can't go into the outside world, it would be nice to frolic in the mountains!
Yu Songyu was lost in a beautiful dream when a noise nearby jolted her awake, causing her head to throb. She slowly opened her eyes and realized she was in a space where no one else was present. She pretended she hadn’t heard anything and went back to her own business. She took an ice cream from the fridge and sat down in a rocking chair, leisurely enjoying it.
"What’s that? I want to eat too!"
Lai Cai squatted on the ground, tilting its head and staring at the ice cream in Yu Songyu's hand.
"Want some?"
Yu Songyu scooped out a small spoonful of ice cream, pretending to ask Lai Cai.
"Yes, yes, I want some! Please give me a little!"
Lai Cai barked a few times, wagging its tail vigorously.
"No way! This is bad for your stomach!"
Yu Songyu retracted the spoon and popped it into her own mouth.
At this point, she was certain that she wasn't hallucinating; she could genuinely understand what the two dogs were saying. This was undoubtedly a significant discovery for her.
She wondered if this situation had anything to do with their long-term consumption of Spirit Spring Water or if they had developed some mysterious connection with her from spending so much time in this space. Regardless of the reason, being able to communicate with them without barriers was indeed a good thing.
