A few people dug from dusk until nearly dawn, finally uncovering a passage about a meter wide. They bent down and entered in single file.
"Light the torch, Heizi!"
The lewd man from Hei Ya responded with a grunt and quickly lit the torch. He was a childhood companion of Wang Zhao, someone they had practically grown up together with, and he was also Wang Zhao's most trusted person. However, for some reason, Wang Heng had disliked this man from the very first moment he laid eyes on him.
Is this bastard trying to rob us of our supplies?
Inside the cave, they found a large stash of matches, candles, cookies, and canned goods.
"This is a Type 38 rifle!"
Heizi pried open a wooden box and found several firearms neatly arranged inside. After prying open a few more boxes, they discovered magazines, bullets, gun oil, and bayonets.
This is some good stuff!
When they opened the box at the far end, everyone's eyes lit up; it contained infantry grenades arranged in perfect order. They filled their bags with supplies, each taking a Type 38 rifle.
Through the light of the torch, they located the spot of the collapse that Yu Suihuan had mentioned. Looking down along the collapse, they indeed found what appeared to be another passageway, with murals carved on both sides—presumably leading to a burial chamber.
"Brother Lai, it really seems like an ancient tomb! We're going to get rich!"
Heizi grinned widely, his mouth nearly reaching his ears.
"Everyone be careful; we don't know if there are any traps down there! No matter what happens, remember this: your lives are more important!"
After Wang Zhao finished his warning, he jumped into the hole with Wang Heng.
Since they were not professional tomb raiders, it didn't take long for them to feel an eerie chill as they moved along the passage. A few younger members even started to shiver.
"Useless fools! Look at your lack of courage!"
Heizi kicked each of them in the rear and continued speaking.
"Those who are bold thrive, while the timid starve! If we hit the jackpot today, we can live a good life with wives and children by the warm hearth!"
The group of Liu Zi were all single men, and the thought of marrying a wife made them feel less afraid.
"Heng Er, are you scared?"
Wang Heng, though not short in stature, was still just a kid. Wang Zhao worried that he might be frightened; if he spoke up now, he could still lead him onward.
"Godfather, with you here, I'm not afraid!"
Wang Heng looked at Wang Zhao with determination in his eyes.
Wang Zhao smiled but said nothing, leading the group forward.
The deeper they went, the more they felt an eerie atmosphere surrounding them.
Illuminated by the flickering flames, ancient runes and patterns covered the stone walls on either side.
As everyone held their breath, staring at the runes on the wall, they suddenly heard what seemed to be a woman's crying nearby. Just then, a chilling wind extinguished all their torches simultaneously.
Ah, there are ghosts!
Panic erupted among them, screams and wails filling the air.
"Shut the hell up!"
Wang Zhao pulled out a flashlight from his bag and turned it on, sweeping it across the group. He saw two useless fellows who had already wet their pants.
"Damn it! Stop your ghostly wailing!"
Heizi was also quite scared and felt annoyed; he kicked the two men in their stomachs.
"Damn it, you cowards! If you're scared, just get lost!"
