Stepping out of the space, the sky was already darkening.
As soon as she left the small courtyard, a rich aroma of food filled the air, indicating that dinner was ready. Sure enough, as Yu Suihuan entered the house, she saw Yuan Qian Wo Wo Tou just coming off the stove.
Seeing Yu Suihuan come out, the Two Grandmas hurriedly urged her to wash her hands and get ready to eat.
"This is the Yuan Qian Steamed Egg made by your grandmother. I’ve made you some Yuan Qian Dumplings, and Li Xiu Zhen has steamed some Yuan Qian Wo Wo Tou for you!"
Yu Suihuan was pleasantly surprised that everyone had put so much effort into her meal; her heart felt warm.
"Oh my, I’m so happy!"
With one hand holding a Wo Wo Tou and the other using chopsticks to shove dumplings into her mouth, she put down her chopsticks and scooped a big spoonful of Yuan Qian Steamed Egg into her mouth.
"Oh dear, this child eats like she hasn’t had a meal in eight hundred years! Slow down, or you’ll choke! She doesn’t have a bit of ladylike demeanor!"
The grandmother couldn’t help but grumble again.
"Just let her eat; even if you say something, she won’t change. Don’t make yourself upset over it."
The Little Old Lady exchanged knowing glances with the grandmother; she didn’t mind Yu Suihuan’s eating habits. She believed that the joy of the child eating happily was worth more than anything else.
"Yang Qinghe, your Yu Shu has tied the knot with Yu Qian; let me taste it first!"
For some reason, as Yu Suihuan ate, her nose began to feel a bit sour. However, she didn’t dare let any tears fall, fearing that the Little Old Ladies would see and worry.
"Tomorrow Jian Jun and Wang Zhao Ran will be discharged from the hospital; we need to prepare something for them."
"Yes, those two kids have really suffered; let’s make them some dishes."
The Two Grandmas discussed while tidying up.
"Then I’ll go to town tomorrow to buy some meat and gather some supplies!"
Zhao Lianzhi was taking great care of the household lately, managing everything inside and out with ease.
"Sister Lianzhi, you take a break; if it doesn’t work out, we can just eat at the State-Owned Hotel!"
Yu Suihuan knew they had been working hard recently and didn’t want to burden them further.
"Oh come on, what are we eating? Of course, we’ll eat at home! It’s lively when we’re back together; there’s nothing to hold back on food and drink!"
The Little Old Lady had a point; if one got too happy and drank too much, they could just fall asleep right there, which wouldn’t be as convenient outside.
Alright then, I’ll head into town early tomorrow to buy some things. You all get ready, and I’ll go pick up Li Xiu Zhen from the town afterward. Sounds good! If Wang Zhao Ran hadn’t been injured, he would have handled this smoothly!
The Little Old Lady sighed, feeling that Ryu Wang Zhao Ran had always taken care of everything for them. With him suddenly hospitalized, the Two Grandmas felt as if they had lost their right hands.
Early the next morning, Yu Suihuan took the opportunity to return to the modern world under the pretense of going to town. She bought a lot of prepared food and ordered a large spread from the best local restaurant, all packed in airtight containers. Of course, cigarettes and alcohol were also essential.
As soon as she entered the house, she saw the Little Old Lady squatting in the southwest corner of the yard, burning paper offerings.
“What are you doing?” Yu Suihuan asked as she put down her things and approached curiously.
“Hush, child! I’m burning offerings to ward off bad luck! Zhao Lian Zhi, oh Zhao Lian Zhi!”
“Hey, Aunt Wang, what’s wrong?”
“Go inside and get some salt. Sprinkle it from the front door all the way inside to the room. It’ll help ward off bad luck. Also, boil a few pots of hot water; when the kids come back, let them take a salt bath to wash away any misfortune!”
“Got it!”
Seeing them busy with their tasks, Yu Suihuan sought out Xu Zhuzhen.
“Li Xiu Zhen, is it about time? Shall we?”
“Grandma, everything I brought back is ready-made. Just have Sister Lianzhi take it out and plate it up. If you’re worried about it getting cold, keep it warm in a big pot!”
Before leaving, Yu Suihuan reminded her once more.
“Alright, I know! I’m not just sitting around here worrying for no reason!”
The Little Old Lady felt proud that her granddaughter was so capable and skilled, allowing their family to live a life unmatched by anyone else.
