After recovering from his illness, Dong Zhuo was in high spirits as he entered the court to discuss matters of state. Lu Bu stood beside him, holding the Fangtian Halberd, his expression calm while turmoil raged within him. He coldly watched Dong Zhuo laughing and chatting with Emperor Xian, his suppressed anger nearly consuming the last shred of his rationality. 0

Finally, seizing the opportunity, Lu Bu turned and quietly left through the inner gate. He mounted his horse and urged Red Hare into a swift gallop towards the Prime Minister's Residence. Upon arriving at the estate, he dismounted, tied Red Hare to a post, and strode into the Back Hall with Decorated Halberd in hand. 0

“Diao Chan!” Lu Bu called softly, his voice filled with urgency and suppressed pain. 0

Diao Chan emerged from behind a screen, her light garments fluttering as she appeared, her face showing signs of fatigue yet still captivating. Upon seeing Lu Bu, a flicker of uncontainable excitement crossed her eyes as she whispered, “General, quickly go to the Rear Garden at Fengyi Pavilion; I will come shortly.” 0

Lu Bu nodded and turned to leave, his steps steady yet hurried. He arrived at Fengyi Pavilion, standing beside the curved railing and surveying his surroundings. The shadows of bamboo swayed gently, flowers concealed him from view, and the lotus flowers in the pond stirred slightly, creating an atmosphere so tranquil it felt frozen in time. His chest heaved violently as he gripped the halberd tightly, countless unspoken words swirling within him. 0

Before long, a light figure emerged from the flowers and approached gracefully. Diao Chan moved through the willow shade with a fluidity akin to flowing water; moonlight illuminated her face softly and beautifully, like a celestial maiden who had strayed into the mortal realm. 0

She stopped before Lu Bu, tears glistening in her eyes as her voice trembled. “General, though I am not Minister Wang's biological daughter, he has treated me as his own. From the moment I saw you, I vowed to serve you for life. However, who could have foreseen that the Grand Tutor harbored ill intentions? I have suffered humiliation time and again; it is unbearable! I should have long since ended my life to prove my resolve, but I could not bear to part with you… Now that I see you again, I have no regrets; I would willingly die to prove my heart!” 0

Before she finished speaking, Diao Chan suddenly turned away, gripping the railing with both hands as she leaped towards the lotus pond. Lu Bu's heart raced; instinctively, he caught her in his arms as Decorated Halberd fell to the ground with a crisp sound. 0

“No!” Lu Bu's voice was hoarse and urgent as he held Diao Chan tightly, agony etched on his face as tears slipped down unbidden. “I have long understood your feelings! It is only that I lament our fate’s cruelty that keeps us apart!” 0

Diao Chan lowered her head; tears fell like pearls from a broken string. She gently tugged at Lu Bu's sleeve and spoke sorrowfully, “In this life, I cannot be your wife; I can only wish for our reunion in the next…” 0

Lu Bu's eyes reddened as he replied with deep sorrow, “If I cannot protect you, how can I call myself a hero? This shame is all mine!” 0

Diao Chan slightly raised her head; her gaze was filled with pain and pleading. “Each day feels like a year in this abyss; only you can save me…” 0

Lu Bu's fingers trembled lightly as he glanced around cautiously before lowering his voice to a whisper. “I have risked everything to come here; if that old thief discovers me, the consequences would be unimaginable. I cannot stay long.” 0

Diao Chan grasped his clothing tightly, her eyes filled with a mix of despair and defiance. "If the General fears that old thief so much, then I shall never have a chance to rise again!" Her voice choked, like the hammer that crushed the last shred of reason in Lü Bu. 0

Lü Bu remained silent, his chest heaving like a turbulent sea. His fists were clenched tightly, his gaze flickering uncertainly, yet he did not release Diao Chan's hand. Finally, he let out a long sigh, raised the Fangtian Halberd, and murmured, "Allow me to think this over..." With that, he turned to leave, his steps heavy as if burdened by a thousand pounds. 0

"General!" Diao Chan's voice suddenly rang out, filled with uncontainable sobs and despair. She took a step closer, tears streaming down her face as she fixed her gaze on Lü Bu's back. "From my secluded chamber, I have long heard of your renown, like thunder echoing in my ears, believing there was no one in this world who could match you! Yet today, what I see is you willingly being manipulated by others, fearful and hesitant, unable to control your own fate!" 0

Her voice was not loud, but each word struck Lü Bu's heart like a hammer. He halted in his tracks, his shoulders trembling slightly as if pierced by her words, unable to move forward even an inch. 0

Diao Chan was weeping profusely now, her voice low and sorrowful. "I once thought you were a hero who could stand tall against the heavens and save me from the mire; little did I know that I misjudged the man and placed my trust in fate..." 0

Shame and pain surfaced on Lü Bu's face, which he could not hide. He gritted his teeth, knuckles whitening on the halberd's handle from the force of his grip. Diao Chan's words stirred turmoil within him; contradictions and anger intertwined like a raging storm. 0

Finally, he spun around abruptly, dropping the Decorated Halberd from his hand. He stepped forward to Diao Chan and pulled her tightly into his embrace, trembling as he said, "Stop! Do not say any more! I know your pain and hate my own powerlessness! How I wish to save you! How I wish to spend my life with you!" His voice was low and filled with heart-wrenching regret. 0

Diao Chan leaned against his chest, her tears soaking through his armor as she sobbed softly. "I do not blame you, General; it is just... my suffering is like a knife every day. Unable to endure it any longer, I spoke out so harshly! All I seek is for you to rescue me from this hell..." 0

Lü Bu gently stroked her shoulder, his tone carrying a hint of forced reassurance. "Diao Chan, I promise you! I will surely rescue you from this sea of suffering; it’s just that the situation is urgent right now. I need time to plan to ensure success." 0

Diao Chan looked up at him; there was still a trace of unease in her eyes but it was somewhat soothed by his vow. Lü Bu gazed down at her and gently wiped away her tears with his hand, speaking softly yet firmly: "Do not worry; I will not allow you to suffer even one more day. If I cannot protect you completely, then I am unworthy of being called a hero!" 0

The two held each other tightly in an embrace, finding solace in one another amidst the silence of the night. The wind brushed past Fengyi Pavilion, carrying distant sounds of water flowing softly; at that moment, it seemed even heaven and earth paused for their pain and unwillingness. 0

Dong Zhuo sat in the hall discussing state affairs with Emperor Xian when he suddenly turned around and noticed Lü Bu was no longer by his side. A frown crossed his brow as unease surged within him. Maintaining an impassive expression, he clasped his hands in farewell to Emperor Xian before hastily boarding his carriage with a darkened countenance as he rushed back to his residence. 0

Upon arriving at the gate of the residence, Dong Zhuo's gaze immediately fell upon the Red Hare. The horse stood quietly tied at the front of the house; its saddle and reins were neatly arranged—clearly indicating its owner had not yet departed. He abruptly turned back and coldly questioned the gatekeeper: "Is Wen Hou inside?" 0

The gatekeeper hurriedly knelt down and replied tremblingly, "Reporting to the Grand Tutor, Wen Hou just entered the Back Hall." 0

Upon hearing this, Dong Zhuo's suspicions deepened. He waved his hand to dismiss the accompanying guards and stormed into the Back Hall alone, his steps heavy and hurried, each footfall seemingly pressing down on his fury, causing the atmosphere in the hall to grow tense. 0

However, despite searching everywhere, he could not find Lu Bu. His eyes narrowed as he scanned the surroundings like a hawk. Moments later, he suddenly shouted, "Where is Diao Chan?" 0

A servant hastily reported, voice trembling, "Reporting to the Grand Tutor, Diao Chan said she was going to the Rear Garden to admire the flowers." 0

Dong Zhuo's face instantly turned ashen. He abruptly turned around and strode towards the Rear Garden. As soon as he stepped into the garden, he spotted the familiar Decorated Halberd leaning against Fengyi Pavilion. There stood Lu Bu and Diao Chan beneath the pavilion, their expressions intimate as they whispered to each other. Diao Chan gently wiped away tears from her eyes while Lu Bu looked at her with tenderness, his eyes filled with uncontainable heartache. 0

Dong Zhuo's eyes instantly turned bloodshot, his anger erupting like a raging flood. He bellowed, "Lu Bu!" 0

Lu Bu turned in shock at the sound, his face momentarily displaying astonishment and unease. Almost instinctively, he turned and fled without retrieving Decorated Halberd. Dong Zhuo was consumed by rage as he rushed towards the pavilion, seizing the Decorated Halberd that Lu Bu had leaned against and gritting his teeth in pursuit. 0

"You ungrateful wretch! I treated you like my own son, yet you dare to betray me like this!" Dong Zhuo roared hoarsely, his voice echoing like thunder throughout the garden. But his corpulent body slowed him down; Lu Bu was swift on his feet and quickly widened the distance between them. Frustrated and furious, Dong Zhuo stopped in his tracks, his eyes blood-red as he shouted and hurled Decorated Halberd towards Lu Bu with all his might. 0

The spear whistled through the air like thunder, but Lu Bu reacted quickly, dodging aside and knocking Decorated Halberd to the ground. Dong Zhuo was so enraged that he nearly lost his mind; he bent down to pick up Decorated Halberd and continued chasing after Lu Bu. However, his heavy body and raging fury left him gasping for breath and stumbling. 0

Lu Bu had already dashed out of the Rear Garden, disappearing into the distance. When Dong Zhuo reached the garden entrance, a shadow suddenly rushed from the side and collided with his chest. Dong Zhuo felt a sharp pain in his chest; his feet slipped, and he fell heavily to the ground, his massive frame shaking the earth beneath him. 0

"Who dares!" Dong Zhuo roared in anger, pain mingling with humiliation in his voice as he attempted to rise. His eyes burned with fury while his face turned ashen, almost dripping with blood from rage. 0
