"Mom, this time in Europe, Sister Qin also bought you a gift, it's a Cartier Bracelet. I'll go get it for you so you can wear it together," Jiang Lu suddenly recalled and said.
"Miss Qin is really thoughtful. Next time, let's invite her over to play," Zhou Rongli said with appreciation.
"Sure, Sister Qin's family is quite wealthy," Jiang Lu replied with a smile.
Jiang Lu brought the bracelet over, and when everyone at the dining table saw it, they couldn't help but pause for a moment. The bracelet in Jiang Lu's hand was exactly the same as the one Chu Mei had given, but upon closer inspection, there were some differences; Chu Mei's Cartier Bracelet had a darker hue.
"Oh, I didn't expect it to be exactly the same. Mom, take a look," Jiang Lu said as she handed the bracelet to Zhou Rongli. Zhou Rongli compared the two bracelets and found that they indeed looked identical at first glance, but it was obvious that Jiang Lu's was slightly more exquisite.
However, Zhou Rongli didn't think much of it; after all, one was bought abroad and the other domestically. This matter seemed inconsequential at first.
But when Chu Mei saw that Jiang Lu had pulled out a matching bracelet, her brows furrowed immediately. With a sarcastic tone, she said, "That bracelet costs over ten thousand pounds in Europe. Xiao Lu, are you sure you bought it from an authorized store? There are so many fakes these days."
"How could it be fake? Sister Qin and I bought it from the Paris boutique," Jiang Lu replied earnestly.
"Your Sister Qin really is generous. I find it hard to believe she would give such an expensive gift. My relationship with your mother spans many years, while Miss Qin is just your classmate. Why would she spend tens of thousands on a gift for your mom? Does she have that much money?" Chu Mei questioned, feeling displeased that the bracelet from Qin Xusha overshadowed hers.
"Aunt Chu, our two bracelets may be the same model, but their colors are different. A big brand like Cartier typically doesn't have variations in color for the same model. The only explanation here is that one of our bracelets is fake. Are you brave enough to verify?" Jiang Chen suddenly interjected.
"Miss Qin's is definitely fake; mine was bought from an authorized store and can't possibly be fake," Chu Mei said without hesitation.
"They're both real; I appreciate your intentions. Now let's eat," Zhou Rongli quickly changed the subject. She wasn't naive; although she had never worn such luxury brand bracelets before, it was clear that the two identical models were distinctly different—one of them had to be fake. Moreover, Zhou Rongli could see clearly that her daughter's classmate Qin Xusha's bracelet had a better quality, and there was no way Qin Xusha would buy a fake for herself.
The only conclusion was that Chu Mei's bracelet was fake. Given Chu Mei's character, she might very well engage in such pretentious behavior. However, regardless of authenticity, what mattered was the sentiment behind it. Zhou Rongli naturally wanted to avoid escalating the situation further and thus shifted the topic.
Chu Mei seemed somewhat flustered and didn't insist on continuing the discussion.
She knew very well whether her bracelet was real or fake but believed that Qin Xusha's was also fake and even worse than hers. Although hers was fake too, it was a high-quality imitation made with real materials costing around eight thousand yuan—something most people wouldn't be able to distinguish easily. Yet despite her confidence in her high-quality imitation bracelet, she felt guilty and didn't dare to pursue the matter any further.
With Zhou Rongli saying this, Jiang Chen chose not to say anything more.
