Lin Feng never imagined that the most ordinary commute could become a turning point in his fate. In that moment, the sky seemed to be torn apart by an invisible giant hand, and strange light flooded into his eyes like a surging tide, causing him to instinctively shut them. When he opened them again, the bustling city and familiar streets had vanished like smoke, replaced by a narrow, damp alley filled with the stench of decay. 0

His head felt as if it had been forcibly thrust into a life that did not belong to him, pain almost causing him to faint. The name "Shadow," laden with secrecy and determination, echoed repeatedly in his chaotic mind. Before he could sort through this disarray, a piercing alarm shattered the silence like a wailing ghost. The sounds of boots stomping and harsh shouts filled the city as a net of martial law and searches was suddenly cast. 0

Lin Feng pinched his arm hard; the sharp pain brought him back to reality. At that moment, he had no choice but to grit his teeth and navigate toward the rendezvous point based on those strange yet familiar memories. Each step felt like walking on a tightrope, with hurried passersby concealing their panic beneath their hurried glances. The Japanese military flag loomed at the street corner, menacing and predatory. 0

After turning several corners, an unassuming old bookstore came into view. A few potted plants at the entrance drooped sadly, silently conveying the hardships of the times. Lin Feng took a deep breath and knocked three times on the door as his memory instructed, paused, then knocked twice more. 0

The door slowly opened a crack, revealing a wary gaze that scrutinized him for what felt like an eternity before allowing him inside. The room was hot and dimly lit, filled with the musty smell of old books. A thin figure emerged from behind the shelves, eyes sharp: "Shadow, you finally made it. The situation has changed." Just then, chaotic footsteps and barking dogs echoed from outside. 0

The contact person’s expression changed instantly as he grabbed Lin Feng and rushed toward the back room, lifting a floorboard to hide in a small cellar. The sound of boots above shook dust loose from the ceiling; Lin Feng's heart raced as he saw his companion remain calm, signaling for silence. After what felt like an eternity, the noise faded away, and they crawled out, covered in dirt. 0

The contact person was Li Hui, an experienced veteran of the Underground Party. He tightly grasped Lin Feng's hand, trust evident in his eyes: "Brother, this mission concerns our organization's survival; we must ensure this information gets out safely." Lin Feng nodded heavily; at that moment, any sense of unfamiliarity vanished between them—he was no longer a confused traveler but a shadow bearing a mission. 0

In the following days, they disguised themselves and moved through the city. Initially nervous, Lin Feng often revealed himself; Li Hui skillfully helped him navigate these dangers, teaching him how to read situations and shake off pursuers. Once, when Japanese officers set up a checkpoint and were about to discover their hidden documents, Li Hui pretended to have an epileptic seizure and collapsed to divert attention while Lin Feng slipped past, cold sweat soaking his back. 0

Crisis followed crisis. A traitor leaked their location; their hideout was surrounded by Japanese officers like an iron barrel. Trapped inside with bullets whistling past them, Li Hui was shot in the leg, blood pouring out. Lin Feng's vision turned red as he fired back: "Old Li, hold on!" In that fleeting moment between life and death, Lin Feng spotted an opening in enemy fire; he hoisted Li Hui onto his back and broke through amidst the smoke. 0

Once they found safety, Li Hui was gasping for breath. Trembling, he pulled out the information and handed it to Lin Feng: "Brother, don’t worry about me; just make sure it gets there." Tears streamed down Lin Feng's face as he clutched the documents tightly: "Old Li, we promised we’d stick together!" 0

In the end, with comrades' support and overcoming numerous obstacles, Lin Feng successfully delivered the information and thwarted the Japanese officers' conspiracy. As dawn broke through the haze of night, he stood on the street corner gazing at the reborn city. He knew that he had become part of this blood-soaked land; carrying his comrades' aspirations forward, he stepped toward the light without hesitation. 0
