As the drinks flowed and the atmosphere in Yan Gui Tower grew lively, conversations filled the air with a sense of camaraderie reminiscent of a bustling tavern where martial artists discussed the affairs of the world. It felt as if one were immersed in a realm of chivalry and passion.
"Mr. Jiang, I must say something that perhaps I shouldn't," Liu Chaowu said, slightly tipsy. "We should not underestimate the Hidden Sect. They have always been enigmatic, and no one truly knows their depth. As the saying goes, knowing oneself and one’s enemy ensures victory in a hundred battles. Mr. Jiang, please do not take this lightly."
With a faint smile, Jiang Chen replied, "If it is something you shouldn’t say, then perhaps you shouldn’t say it at all. Let’s just enjoy our drinks."
Liu Chaowu found himself at a loss for words, forced to chuckle awkwardly as he continued to drink with Jiang Chen, his worries growing heavier in his heart.
By nine o'clock that evening, Yan Gui Tower was in disarray with empty cups and plates scattered about. Jiang Chen had enjoyed himself thoroughly and bid farewell to Liu Chaowu before taking Lin Yin back to their hotel.
Though Liu Chaowu had a good tolerance for alcohol, drinking with Jiang Chen was like comparing a novice to a master. After Jiang Chen left, he was already quite drunk but managed to retain a sliver of clarity by using his Inner Energy to counteract the effects of the alcohol.
As Jiang Chen and Lin Yin departed, a group from the Martial Arts Association surrounded Liu Chaowu, bombarding him with questions about Jiang Chen and Lin Yin.
Faced with their incessant inquiries, Liu Chaowu took another swig from his drink and swayed slightly before mumbling, "Come on, everyone, let’s drink together!"
"Old Liu is drunk; let’s get him home," someone suggested.
Feigning drunkenness allowed Liu Chaowu to evade their questions.
The night wore on in the still heat of the city. In their room, Jiang Chen sat cross-legged beside Lin Yin as he entered a meditative state. It took Lin Yin most of the day to reach her subconscious meditation state; however, even the slightest noise would startle her awake.
The night passed quietly.
In the morning, a ray of sunlight streamed into the room as Jiang Chen opened his eyes and returned from his meditation. He stood up and noticed that Lin Yin had somehow fallen asleep on the floor.
Jiang Chen smiled and shook his head in amusement. "Lin Yin!"
He called her name directly now that she was his disciple instead of using her previous title.
Startled awake, Lin Yin jumped up reflexively upon realizing it was daylight and that her master was watching her.
"Uh, Master, I—I don’t know how I fell asleep," she stammered, feeling a bit embarrassed as she reached up to casually brush her hair back—really just wiping away drool.
"With your temperament, it’s no surprise you got into a scuffle again yesterday. It’s indeed difficult to enter a meditative state like that; time is long," Jiang Chen remarked without any reprimand.
"Hehe, thank you for not scolding me, Master," Lin Yin replied with a smile.
Jiang Chen had a soft spot for Lin Yin; after all, she was his first disciple on Earth and had a personality that suited him well.
"Enough with the playful banter; let’s go have breakfast. After we eat, we’ll head over to the Martial Arts Competition venue," Jiang Chen said.
"Master, didn't you watch it at the Yan Gui Tower last night? The Martial Arts Competition is just a form of self-entertainment by the Martial Arts Association; I find it uninteresting. Wouldn't it be even more boring for you to go?" Lin Yin said.
"Not watching would be even more boring," Jiang Chen replied with a smile. "Hurry up and get ready; your hair looks like a bird's nest."
Lin Yin stuck out her tongue and quickly ran off to freshen up.
After washing up, breakfast was delivered directly to their room. With the service of a presidential suite, everything was taken care of.
Once they finished breakfast, Jiang Chen and Lin Yin went downstairs, where Liu Chaowu was already waiting in the hotel lobby.
