"Hey, kid, come here and show me what's wrong," said the Old Man.
"Hehe, good morning, Old Lu."
"Good morning my foot! It's already noon!"
"This salt isn't enough... and this numbing spice is too much... and this one is missing..."
"Alright, alright! Come sit down. The Old Man is hungry. I've been on edge lately because of you, so you should treat me a bit..."
Mo Wen had no choice but to start cooking, mainly because Old Lu's cooking was terrible.
"By the way, I haven't asked you about your dreams lately. How have they been since you started cultivating again?" Old Lu recalled that Mo Wen hadn't mentioned his dreams since he resumed his training.
"I haven't entered that dream again, but I've been in the same dream all this time..." Mo Wen described his recent dream experiences to Old Lu.
"You mean you've been entering the same dream repeatedly?" Old Lu asked in surprise after hearing Mo Wen's description.
"Yes, Old Lu. Do you know what this means?"
"I don't know, but it seems that every time you win a game, you wake up from the dream. This suggests that the dream is just a form of training for you; just focus on winning each time."
"But what if I lose?"
"You might get swallowed by the dream and never wake up again. Now that it's over, why are you still dwelling on it?"
Hearing Old Lu's speculation made Mo Wen shrink his neck. Fortunately, the games in the dream weren't difficult; he had won them all. If he lost and got swallowed by the dream, he wouldn't be able to wake up.
...
Mo Wen stepped out of the wooden cabin, stretched lazily, and moved his limbs before heading to a flat area in the woods to practice the Soft and Fluffy Fist that Old Lu had mentioned. After consolidating his training for some time, he had now perfected his Refining Spirit Nerve technique and could consider advancing to the next Realm.
"Old Lu, my Refining Spirit Realm is complete. Can I enter the Heavenly Unity Realm now?" Mo Wen asked as he sat by the fire pit.
"Mo, your cooking is decent, but it's too complicated for traveling around," Old Lu replied without turning around as he continued to stir the food in the pan.
"Old Lu, did you hear what I said?" Mo Wen's face darkened.
"I heard you say you want to enter the next Realm. But before that, you need to address one issue first." Old Lu still didn't look back.
"What issue?" He thought Old Lu was going to bring up some exchange condition again.
"You should practice Martial Arts first."
"Martial Arts?" Indeed, Mo Wen had never really practiced any Martial Arts; the only thing he had trained was that set of Soft and Fluffy Fist techniques. However, it seemed that those punches only served to calm him down. But he had seen Old Lu strike a few times; it seemed like just raising his hand would send those Demon Beasts flying away.
"Why practice Martial Arts? I saw you fighting those Demon Beasts without using any Martial Arts," Mo Wen said, puzzled.
"That's because the Old Man is skilled, and those Demon Beasts were too weak. If he encounters a Cultivator of similar strength who is also armed, the Old Man will have to use Martial Arts and weapons. No matter how powerful someone is, they can't just go unarmed against a blade when the strengths are equal. The outcome would be the same."
"What outcome?"
"Either death or injury! That's why it's important to practice Martial Arts. Martial Arts are called such because they are best practiced at the Warrior Stage. Mastering Martial Arts at the Warrior Stage allows one to use them effortlessly at higher levels."
"Old Lu, what kind of Martial Arts do you think I should practice?"
