The so-called tidying up was nothing more than dumping the contents of his suitcase onto the bed and then shoving things into the closet haphazardly. Clothes were stuffed into the wardrobe without folding, books and miscellaneous items were piled carelessly on the desk, and his sneakers were tossed under the bed. Before long, the once tidy right side of the room had transformed into a chaotic area reminiscent of "Nezha's style."
Once he finished, Nezha took out his phone and realized it was already past five in the afternoon. His stomach began to protest, reminding him that it was time for dinner. He walked to the door and glanced back at the space he had just "arranged." In stark contrast to Ao Bing's neat side, the disarray made him feel a sudden sense of unease.
"Well, it’s only for a week; I can endure it," Nezha reassured himself before turning to head out in search of food.
When Nezha returned to the dorm with a takeout bag, it was already past seven in the evening. He swiped his card to open the door but froze the moment he pushed it open—Ao Bing was sitting at the desk, wearing headphones and focused on a book. Hearing the door open, Ao Bing turned his head, and a flicker of surprise crossed his face, followed by a complex mix of emotions.
The two locked eyes, and the atmosphere instantly became tense.
"Uh... hi?" Nezha awkwardly raised the takeout bag in an attempt to break the silence.
Ao Bing removed his headphones, frowning slightly. "It's you."
Those two simple words ignited Nezha's anger. What kind of attitude was that? As if he were some kind of plague!
"Yeah, it's me!" Nezha retorted sharply. "Surprised? Didn't expect it? Starting today, I'm your new roommate!"
Ao Bing's frown deepened. "Aunt Taiyi didn’t notify me in advance."
"Ha! Looks like even 'the all-knowing' doesn’t know everything!" Nezha shot back sarcastically as he walked over to his bed and slammed the takeout bag down on the desk. "Don’t worry; I don’t want to live with you either, but I have no choice—my dorm has a leak and needs repairs for a week. Once it's fixed, I’ll move out right away, and you can go back to your peaceful life!"
After a moment of silence, Ao Bing sighed. "I understand. In that case, we need to establish some rules for cohabitation."
"Rules?" Nezha raised an eyebrow, "What rules?"
"First, smoking and drinking are prohibited in the dormitory," Ao Bing said calmly, his tone leaving no room for doubt. "Second, maintain silence, especially after ten o'clock at night. Furthermore, keep the environment clean and do not litter or leave clothes lying around. Lastly, respect each other's personal space and do not touch one another's belongings."
As Nezha listened to this series of regulations, his expression grew increasingly grim. "Hey, who do you think you are? Why do you get to set so many rules? This isn’t your dormitory alone!"
"These are not my personal wishes but the basic living guidelines of Dormitory Building Four," Ao Bing adjusted his glasses. "If you find them unacceptable, you can apply for a transfer at the Dormitory Office."
Nezha was so furious he nearly jumped up. "Are you trying to kick me out?"
"I'm merely stating the facts," Ao Bing maintained his calm demeanor. "If you can adhere to these basic rules, we can coexist peacefully."
"Hah!" Nezha scoffed, "Fine! Then I have rules too: don’t meddle in my affairs, don’t point fingers at me, and don’t act all high and mighty looking down on others!"
Ao Bing's eyes flickered with a hint of confusion. "I didn’t mean to look down on you."
"Really?" Nezha said sarcastically. "Then what was that condescending attitude of yours on the court yesterday?"
"I was simply pointing out your inappropriate behavior," Ao Bing replied coolly. "If you felt offended by that, I apologize."
