The Stone Path sloped downward, seemingly leading deep into the earth. Ahead lay a stretch of darkness, occasionally disturbed by snakes, insects, and rodents that scurried out. However, upon seeing Jiang Chen, they obediently made way.
Jiang Chen continued forward, and after about three minutes, he reached the end of the Stone Path. There stood a stone door, on which three large characters were inscribed in regular script: "Sword Immortal Tomb."
Next to these characters were several lines of smaller text. Jiang Chen focused his gaze and was surprised to find it was indeed Li Bai's poem "Xia Ke Xing."
With a faint smile, Jiang Chen reached out to push the stone door, but it did not budge. He exerted more force, and the door shattered like tempered glass, cracking and then collapsing with a thunderous sound.
The stone door was over a meter thick and had been sealed for ages; even archaeologists would have no means to open it. Yet for Jiang Chen, such a mere stone door posed no obstacle.
As the door fell, a strange odor rushed out from within. The Sword Immortal Tomb had been sealed for a thousand years, its air peculiar and devoid of oxygen. Jiang Chen paid it no mind and stepped inside.
Upon entering, he found himself in a stone chamber of about one hundred square meters. Inside were a stone table, stone benches, and bookshelves made of golden silk nanmu wood. The shelves held numerous books, as well as various vessels and treasures.
Jiang Chen glanced over these items casually before his gaze settled on a sword in one corner of the chamber.
This sword had endured for millennia, still gleaming with a cold light and free of any dust, embedded directly into the stone slab.
Jiang Chen approached and looked down; the slab was covered in dust. He waved his hand to clear it away and saw many characters inscribed in regular script. Fortunately, the civilization of Huaxia had a long history; the sword immortal's writing was clear enough for Jiang Chen to recognize these ancient characters from over two thousand years ago.
The inscriptions detailed the life of this sword immortal. Although the immortal did not mention his name, Jiang Chen could still imagine his carefree spirit through the words.
Especially striking was the final line, which mentioned leaving behind a personal Zong Yun Sword and a Sword Manual for future fated individuals.
After reading this, Jiang Chen directly picked up the Zong Yun Sword. It was indeed superior to his Sky Sword but still fell short of what he considered an immortal sword.
After examining the Zong Yun Sword closely, Jiang Chen used his spiritual sense to probe its sword intent. The Zong Yun Sword possessed its own spirit; sensing that Jiang Chen was not its master, it trembled slightly and emitted a sound as if protesting fiercely. However, it was quickly subdued by Jiang Chen's will.
With a swing of his sword, he shattered the slab that bore the sword immortal's life story, revealing an inner space.
Within that one-foot space lay a Sword Manual resting quietly.
The Sword Manual bore no name; it seemed this sword immortal did not wish for future generations to know his identity.
Jiang Chen picked up the Sword Manual and began to flip through its pages. To his surprise, he found valuable insights within its contents as well as techniques for wielding swords.
"It seems that martial arts in Huaxia were indeed more prosperous a thousand years ago," Jiang Chen murmured before closing the Sword Manual and continuing to search through the stone chamber.
However, after searching for quite some time without finding the remains of this sword immortal, he found it strange. Did the immortal merely leave behind his personal sword and Sword Manual while burying his remains elsewhere?
Ultimately, Jiang Chen decided to abandon his speculation; since this sword immortal chose not to leave traces behind, why should he pursue them?
After putting away the Sword Manual and Zong Yun Sword, Jiang Chen left the stone chamber.
At the bottom of the cliff, a group of people eagerly awaited, believing that Jiang Chen would stay in the Sword Immortal Ruins for a long time. However, to their surprise, less than half an hour had passed when Jiang Chen emerged.
