"The more ordinary a place is, the easier it is to hide. If it weren't for my allowing you to enter, with your skills, you wouldn't have made it to my burial ground. As for those top-tier individuals, they prefer to go to the so-called forbidden zones and deadly places. If I truly chose a deadly location, the heir of my clan wouldn't be able to enter. In contrast, this place allows for the continuation of my clan's Bloodline while avoiding the danger of incomplete corpses."
"Senior, your wisdom is admirable," Junior replied.
"Let me ask you, what is your relationship with this Little Guy?" After answering Mo Wen's question, the Qilin turned to inquire.
"We share a common plight..." Mo Wen recounted in detail how he met Xiao Hei.
"Very well, seeing that you have some merit, I will grant you an Opportunity. Behind this Cave lies an object; go and retrieve it, as it will be beneficial to you. However, do not disturb anything within this Cave; otherwise, the fusion of this Little Guy could encounter serious problems."
"Thank you for your generous gift, Senior." Mo Wen bowed. Throughout their conversation, he had not seen what the Qilin's remnant soul looked like, but he chose to trust that Qilin's Remnant Soul would not harm Xiao Hei. His understanding of Divine Beasts and their earlier dialogue had alleviated most of his doubts. Moreover, there was no way around it; the Qilin could easily see through the secrets he held. If it truly wanted to do something to Xiao Hei, he would be powerless to stop it.
Mo Wen did not rush to retrieve the object mentioned by the Qilin but instead turned back to block the entrance they had come through. He and Xiao Hei would be staying here for a long time; if they left the entrance open, any other individuals or Demon Beasts could intrude and disrupt Xiao Hei's fusion.
"You may go now." The previously blasted entrance had already returned to its original state.
"Thank you, Senior." After bidding farewell to the Qilin, he circled along the lake shore and spotted a stone cave; this should be where the object mentioned by the Qilin was located. Looking back at Xiao Hei in the center of the lake, it was glowing all over, and flames began to erupt from its body. Instead of emitting the agonized howls he had imagined, Xiao Hei merely hummed softly as if enjoying itself. Seeing this scene eased Mo Wen's worries considerably as he turned and entered the stone cave.
Passing through the stone cave led him into a garden; this could be considered the back garden of Qilin Cave. The garden was not large, about a hundred feet in diameter, and unlike the Lava Lake in the front hall, there were no such features here. Above the garden was a cavern where light streamed in from outside. For Mo Wen, who had lost track of how long he had been underground, this light felt incredibly welcoming. The garden was filled with bizarre rocks but lacked any piles of treasures as he had imagined. He thought that a Divine Beast would have countless wealth stored away; even one item from its collection should cause a global sensation.
Apart from the strange rocks, there was only a large Stone Jar in the center of the garden, standing about two meters tall and two meters wide. Smoke swirled around its opening. Mo Wen did not know what lay within the Stone Jar, but he was certain that what the Qilin referred to as an Opportunity was contained within it. Curious about what exactly was inside, Mo Wen decided to investigate further. He climbed onto a nearby rock beside the Stone Jar and finally got a clear view of what lay inside.
Inside the Stone Jar was half molten lava and half icy water emitting white steam. The alternating heat and cold formed an arc that evenly divided the interior world into two halves. In the lava grew a pure white lotus; its Lotus Seed Pod was immaculate, resembling jade or ice.
