The effects of the Lian Zi were powerful, but their quantity was always limited. Sooner or later, there would come a day when they would be exhausted. Moreover, he intended to reserve some for the Ning Shen Realm, where this natural material was quite rare. Therefore, he had been trying his best to refrain from consuming Chi Jing unless absolutely necessary. It pained him to think that he had to take Lian Zi again so soon for healing; the last time he had to use four pieces just to recover. This time, he would need even more, especially since there was still someone lying on the bed beside him. Looking at her pale face, he couldn't bear to ignore her needs.
Just as he was about to take out the Lian Zi, he suddenly remembered the Lotus Leaf from the Shuang Sheng Lian that he had forgotten about. According to the records, the entire plant could be used for medicinal purposes. Although the efficacy of the Lotus Leaf might not match that of the Lian Zi, it was worth a try. As for swallowing it directly, that was something a gourmet like him could never accept. Thus, he thought of making porridge instead. The pot for cooking porridge was one he had refined himself. As he became more adept in the forest, simple roasted meat no longer satisfied his culinary desires. So, following the shape of Old Lu's cauldron, he crafted this pot. However, while Old Lu's cauldron was square, his turned out round and much smaller—not because he wanted it to be round but because he had failed in making a square one. Nevertheless, after refining it, he felt that a round pot was indeed better; it resembled a proper cooking vessel.
An hour later, the porridge began to emit a fragrant aroma of lotus leaves, and the roasted meat started to smell delicious as well.
"Cough cough cough..." The girl woke up and immediately grabbed her sword, pointing it at Mo Wen upon seeing the wild man by the fire. Mo Wen noticed her awakening and prepared to stand up.
"Who are you?!" The girl tried to get up but was too weak and could only manage to sit up.
Mo Wen stood half up with one hand still holding the roasted meat. Staring at the sword pointed at him, he momentarily didn't know how to respond. But quickly regaining his composure, he sat back down and continued roasting his meat.
"The one who saved you," Mo Wen replied somewhat irritably. After all his efforts to rescue her, she woke up only to point a sword at him. But soon enough, he understood; it was a normal reaction. If roles were reversed, he would have likely done the same—especially since she was just a girl.
"Saved me? Then tell me how you saved me," the girl said as she relaxed her guard slightly but still kept her sword aimed at Mo Wen. She looked at this boy who seemed about her age and dressed oddly like a wild man; surely his realm couldn't be higher than hers—how could he have saved her?
"Put down your sword. Even if you don't believe I saved you, at least you're fine now, which shows I mean you no harm. Isn't it inappropriate for you to point your sword at me like this?"
"Oh! Please forgive me; I was just nervous..." The girl realized she was pointing her sword at him and instantly felt embarrassed; her previously pale face turned rosy.
"It's human nature," Mo Wen said. "I happened to pass by here and found you behind a rock; you were already unconscious at that time..." He briefly recounted how he had saved her during the night but refrained from mentioning that it had turned into day when they met again. Given his strength, if he claimed to have killed a Chimera to save her, no one would believe him anyway.
"It seems I misjudged you, sir; please do not hold it against me." After hearing Mo Wen's account, the girl's face flushed even more as she attempted to rise and offer her apologies.
