The victory at the sports meet seemed to open a new door for Nezha. The training, competitions, and daily classes of the School Team filled his life, but more importantly, people's perceptions of him were quietly changing. Those who once labeled him as a "Problem Student" now referred to him as "Nezha from the Magic City University Soccer Team," and some even began to call him the "Little Prince of Soccer."
These changes brought Nezha immense joy, but what made him happiest was seeing Ao Bing cheering for him from the sidelines during every game.
After training one day, Nezha wiped the sweat from his brow and walked over to Ao Bing, who was waiting at the edge of the field.
"You did well today," Ao Bing said, handing him a bottle of water. "That turn-and-dribble move was impressive."
Nezha grinned, feeling a warm rush inside. Although Ao Bing wasn't a soccer expert, he always managed to notice Nezha's shining moments on the field. That feeling of being noticed and understood was incredibly wonderful.
"Hey, I heard there's a music festival next week," Nezha said, taking a swig of water and casually asking, "Are you going to participate?"
Ao Bing paused for a moment, surprised. "How do you know about the music festival?"
"Li Ming from the Magic City University Soccer Team mentioned it; his girlfriend is in the Music Department," Nezha explained. "It seems like a pretty big event?"
Ao Bing nodded. "Yeah, it's an Annual Event that students from all departments can join." He hesitated for a moment, as if he wanted to say something more.
"What's wrong?" Nezha noticed his hesitation.
"Actually..." Ao Bing said softly, "I received an invitation from the Music Department to perform a Piano Solo."
"Really?" Nezha's eyes widened in surprise. "I didn't know you played the piano so well!"
Ao Bing smiled slightly, "I learned for a while when I was younger, but I haven't played much in recent years."
"Did you agree to it?" Nezha asked eagerly.
Ao Bing shook his head, "Not yet. I'm a bit worried about my skill; after all, it's been a long time since I've performed in public."
"You'll be amazing!" Nezha encouraged without hesitation. "You're great at everything you do, and the piano will be no exception!"
The unreserved compliment made Ao Bing feel a bit shy. He lowered his head slightly, but his lips involuntarily curled into a smile. "Thank you, but I'm still considering it."
"What are you considering? Just agree to it!" Nezha said earnestly. "I've never seen you play the piano; this is a perfect opportunity for me to enjoy the show!"
Looking into Nezha's expectant eyes, Ao Bing's hesitation gradually faded away. He nodded gently, "Alright, I'll think about it."
"That's great!" Nezha exclaimed excitedly, clapping his hands. "I'll definitely come to cheer you on!"
On the way back to the dormitory, Nezha kept imagining what Ao Bing would look like playing the piano. What would his usually quiet and disciplined roommate be like at the piano? What kind of expressions would he show? What style of music would he play? The unknown filled Nezha with anticipation.
That evening, Ao Bing received a formal invitation from the Music Department. He sat at his desk, carefully reading the contents of the invitation.
"They really value you," Nezha leaned over to take a look. "They even scheduled you as the closing act!"
Ao Bing nodded slightly, "It might be because I've participated in a few piano competitions before and won some awards."
"Wow, I didn't know you were this amazing?" Nezha exclaimed. "What else is there that I don't know about you?"
Ao Bing chuckled softly. "There are many things you might not be aware of."
This sparked Nezha's curiosity. "Like what?"
