In the fourth week, which was the last week before Ao Bing's departure, Nezha's mood grew increasingly restless. There was still no news from Ao Bing, and according to their previous agreement, he was supposed to return to school this weekend. Nezha didn't know whether to hope or to trust in Ao Bing's promise.
On Friday evening, Nezha was alone in the dormitory, tidying up Ao Bing's desk. A month had passed, and a thin layer of dust had settled on the surface. Nezha carefully wiped each book and pen, as if these items held a part of Ao Bing.
At that moment, he inadvertently discovered a small box hidden at the bottom of the stack of books. Out of curiosity, he opened it and found a letter and a small blue Crystal Pendant inside.
The envelope was addressed to "Dear Nezha," written in neat and elegant handwriting—clearly Ao Bing's. Nezha's heart raced as he eagerly tore open the letter and began to read.
"Nezha,
By the time you read this letter, I should have left school to attend the Inheritance Ceremony at the Dragon Palace. I am uncertain whether I can return as promised, so I am leaving this letter as a kind of... farewell.
First of all, I want to thank you for your companionship and understanding during this time. My days in the Human World have been the most free and joyful moments of my life. Especially the time spent with you has allowed me to experience warmth and friendship like never before.
As the Dragon Prince, my life has long been planned out for me, each step burdened with my family's expectations and responsibilities. I once thought this was natural until I met you—the one who dares to defy fate and bravely pursue your dreams. You have shown me another possibility, a way of life that transcends duty and obligation.
But the reality is that I cannot escape my identity and responsibilities. The Dragon Tribe is facing an unprecedented crisis, and if I choose to give up my claim to the throne, it would have a tremendous impact on our entire clan. I must return to at least complete the Inheritance Ceremony and take on my responsibilities.
However, I do not want to completely abandon my dreams in the Human World. Therefore, I have decided to try negotiating with my father to find a solution that satisfies both sides. If successful, I will come back; if not... then this letter will serve as our farewell.
Enclosed with this letter is the Crystal Pendant, a traditional token of the Dragon Tribe that contains a trace of its power. It can provide protection when you are in danger and allow you to feel my presence when you miss me. I hope you will accept this gift as a testament to our friendship.
Lastly, there is something I've never had the courage to tell you face-to-face. Perhaps knowing that I am about to leave has given me the courage to confess in this letter: I cherish our relationship more than I ever imagined. No matter what the future holds, this bond will remain my most precious memory.
I hope that one day we can meet again."
