Nezha clenched his fists, struggling to control his emotions. "So, this is goodbye? You’re going to give up the literature and music you love, abandon everything here, and stay in the Dragon Palace forever?" 0

A flicker of pain crossed Ao Bing's eyes, but he quickly regained his composure. "It's not about giving up; it's about making a choice. Nezha, everyone has responsibilities they must bear. As the Dragon Prince, my duty is to inherit the throne and maintain the stability and prosperity of the Dragon Tribe. Personal preferences and dreams must take a backseat to that." 0

"But you clearly love it here!" Nezha exclaimed passionately. "You love literature, you love music, you cherish the freedom and tranquility here. Are you really willing to give all that up and return to a world bound by rules and obligations?" 0

Ao Bing frowned slightly. "Nezha, you don’t understand the predicament facing the Dragon Tribe. With humans overexploiting marine resources, our living environment is under severe threat. Without a strong leader, the Dragon Tribe faces the risk of extinction. As the heir, I cannot prioritize my own likes while neglecting the safety of my people." 0

Nezha fell silent; he knew Ao Bing was right, but he still found it hard to accept. Why did Ao Bing always think of others? Why couldn’t he live for himself just once? 0

"Is there really no other way?" Nezha stubbornly asked. "For instance, you could find an agent to handle Dragon Tribe affairs, allowing you to continue your studies here." 0

Ao Bing shook his head. "The affairs of the Dragon Tribe are not that simple. The Inheritance Ceremony involves the transfer of power and the merging of dragon energy; it must be performed by a pure-blooded heir in person. Moreover, there are various complex factions and interests within the Dragon Tribe. If I don’t take control myself, it could easily lead to internal strife." 0

The more Nezha listened, the more despairing he felt. Ao Bing's explanations made him realize that the world of the Dragon Tribe was far more complex than he had imagined. But he was unwilling to give up just yet. "What about me? Ao Bing, are we really going to part ways like this?" 0

A softness flickered in Ao Bing's gaze before he sighed. "Nezha, our worlds are inherently different. The lifespan of a Dragon Tribe member can almost be described as eternal, while humans... live only a few decades at most. Even if we can be together now, one day you will grow old while I remain unchanged. This disparity means we cannot stay together for long." 0

His words struck Nezha like a sharp knife to the heart. How could he forget this cruel reality? He and Ao Bing were not just from different worlds; they had an essential difference—length of life. 0

"So, you're saying," Nezha's voice turned bitter, "that from the very beginning, it was impossible for us?" 0

Ao Bing did not answer directly but looked out the window as autumn sunlight filtered through the leaves, casting mottled shadows on the ground. "Nezha, do you remember when we first met? On the soccer field, when you knocked me down and we had that big argument?" 0

"Of course I remember," Nezha said softly, recalling that sunny afternoon. "You said my skills were lacking, and I called you a bookworm." 0

Ao Bing smiled slightly. "At that time, I knew we were completely different types of people. You are sunny, lively, and passionate, like a blazing fire; while I am calm, restrained, and reserved, like cold ice. Logically, we should have repelled each other, like water and fire." 0

Nezha nodded, not quite understanding what Ao Bing was trying to express. 0

"But strangely," Ao Bing continued, "we became friends, even... something closer than friends. The time we've spent together is the most precious memory of my life. No matter what happens in the future, I will always cherish it." 0
