As soon as the words left his mouth, Ao Bing's expression suddenly changed. He looked up into the distance and said, "Someone's coming!"
Nezha turned around alertly and indeed saw several beams of flashlight moving along the lakeside—it was the school security on patrol.
"I have to go," Ao Bing said urgently. "Nezha, promise me that during my absence, you will take good care of yourself and not act impulsively."
Nezha nodded, holding back his reluctance. "You need to be careful too, Ao Bing. If there's any danger, contact me immediately. I will rush to your side, no matter what the Dragon Palace rules say!"
Ao Bing smiled faintly and reached out to caress Nezha's cheek. "I know. Once I handle the crisis in the Dragon Tribe, I will come back to find you. No matter how long it takes or how far away I am, I will return to your side."
The surface of the lake rippled again as Ao Bing's figure began to blur. In the final moment, he gently kissed Nezha's lips and whispered, "Wait for me, Nezha."
In the next second, Ao Bing transformed into a blue light and vanished into the lake. Nezha stood there, gazing at the calm surface of the water, filled with reluctance and worry.
The security's flashlight beams grew closer, prompting Nezha to quickly hide behind a large tree. Fortunately, the security was just doing a routine patrol and soon left.
Back in his dormitory, Nezha lay on his bed but couldn't fall asleep. He replayed Ao Bing's words over and over in his mind, envisioning various potential dangers. Internal strife in the Dragon Palace, mysterious enemies, the missing Sea Stabilizing Needle... everything pointed to an impending storm.
"Ao Bing, please be safe..." Nezha murmured to himself, tightly gripping the Dragon Scale Pendant around his neck.
In the early hours of the morning, Nezha finally dozed off in a haze. In his dreams, he saw Ao Bing clad in Dragon Tribe armor standing in the Dragon Palace hall facing a group of furious Dragon Elders; he saw mysterious shadows lurking in the dark with predatory eyes; he saw turbulent seas and towering waves as if the apocalypse were upon them...
The next morning, Nezha was jolted awake by urgent knocking at the door. When he opened it, he found Aunt Taiyi with a grave expression.
"What happened, Taiyi Senior?" Nezha felt a tightening in his chest.
Aunt Taiyi quickly stepped inside and closed the door behind her. Lowering her voice, she said, "There have been unusual energy fluctuations in the East Sea. The meteorological department has issued a warning that strong storms may occur in coastal areas. This must be related to the theft of the Sea Stabilizing Needle."
Nezha's heart sank. "What about Ao Bing? Is there any news about him?"
"The Dragon Palace is on high alert right now; it's hard for news to get out. But from what I know, Ao Bing has temporarily taken over Dragon Palace affairs and is organizing a search for the Sea Stabilizing Needle." Aunt Taiyi paused for a moment, hesitating whether to continue.
"What else is there?" Nezha sensed Aunt Taiyi's hesitation.
Aunt Taiyi sighed. "The Dragon Elder Council has raised doubts about Ao Bing's leadership abilities, claiming he is too young and inexperienced to handle the current crisis. Some factions even advocate for Ao Bing's older brother Ao Lie to take over Dragon Palace affairs."
"Ao Lie? Ao Bing never mentioned having an older brother," Nezha frowned.
"Ao Lie is the eldest son of the Dragon King but was exiled from the Dragon Palace for his violent temperament many years ago. Now that the Dragon King is severely injured, he has returned to seize power."
This news made Nezha even more anxious. Ao Bing not only had to face external threats but also internal power struggles—his situation was incredibly precarious.
"I must help Ao Bing," Nezha declared firmly. "Taiyi Senior, is there anything I can do?"
