Outside the window, the sunlight streamed in perfectly, casting a gentle halo around the blue paper crane on the bedside. Nezha gently picked up the crane, recalling the serious expression on Ao Bing's face when he folded it. At that time, they had not yet experienced so many twists and turns; everything was so simple and beautiful.
“Ao Bing, do you really understand how I feel?” Nezha murmured to himself. “I don’t need your protection; what I need is the chance to fight alongside you.”
During the afternoon classes, Nezha was distracted, his mind filled with thoughts about the upcoming mission. If the Li Yang Sect was indeed active in the East Sea, how should he respond? If it was a trap, how could he escape? More importantly, how would Ao Bing react if he found out that Nezha had disregarded warnings and ventured to the East Sea?
After class, Nezha returned to his dormitory to pack essential items. He opened a drawer and took out a small red box containing the "Three Heads and Six Arms" talisman given to him by his father, Li Jing—said to enhance the user's combat abilities in critical moments. This had been his secret weapon for many years, never used because activating it required a significant amount of mental energy. But now, faced with unknown dangers, it might be his last resort.
Just as Nezha was packing his belongings, his phone rang again—it was Ao Bing. He hesitated for a moment but ultimately answered.
“Nezha, I’m sorry,” Ao Bing’s voice carried an apologetic tone. “I shouldn’t have spoken to you like that, nor should I have made an agreement with Taiyi Senior behind your back. I was just… too worried about you.”
Nezha fell silent for a moment before softly replying, “I’m sorry too; I shouldn’t have snapped at you. I know you bear great responsibilities; I just… wish I could be by your side and face difficulties together.”
“I understand how you feel,” Ao Bing’s voice softened considerably. “But the situation is really too dangerous right now. The Li Yang Sect's target is your Demon Sphere Power; if you act recklessly, you’ll be playing right into their hands.”
“But doing nothing and just waiting is not something I can accept,” Nezha confessed. “I’d rather take risks than watch you fall into danger.”
A sigh came from Ao Bing on the other end of the line. “We all have our own convictions and responsibilities. Perhaps… this is our fate.”
Those words felt like cold water splashed onto Nezha’s heart. “What do you mean? Are you suggesting that we shouldn’t be together?”
“That’s not what I meant,” Ao Bing hurriedly explained. “I just think that maybe we need to complete our respective missions first before considering what comes next.”
"Are you saying that the matters of the Dragon Tribe are more important than our relationship?" Nezha's voice grew cold again.
"Nezha, this isn't an either-or situation," Ao Bing tried to explain. "I love you, but I also have responsibilities that I cannot ignore. Living in the Dragon Palace during this time has made me realize more clearly that as the prince, I must consider the entire Dragon Tribe. I can't abandon my responsibilities for personal feelings, just as you can't forsake your mission in the human world because you're worried about me."
"My mission in the human world?" Nezha scoffed. "What do you mean? Being rejected as a monster? Or continuing to hide my abilities and pretend to be an ordinary person?"
"No, Nezha," Ao Bing's voice was sincere. "Your mission is to prove that the Demon Sphere Power can be used for good, to protect rather than destroy. You can change people's perceptions of the Demon Orb, just as you've begun to influence some people at school. This is far more important than you realize."
