The scene continued to shift, and Nezha saw the young man battling numerous formidable foes, golden light clashing with darkness. In the end, the young man chose to swallow the golden core, transforming into a dazzling beam of light that vanished into the sky.
"I see..." Nezha pondered, "The Demon Orb was not sealed away but rather chose to reincarnate to evade those dark forces pursuing it?"
Just as Nezha was immersed in these visions, a wave of even more intense pain pulled him back to reality. He felt the energy within him suddenly surge uncontrollably, like a flood breaking through a dam, crashing against every inch of his flesh. Unable to suppress it, he let out a painful howl, his hands bracing against the ground as his whole body trembled.
"Control yourself!" Aunt Taiyi's urgent voice rang out. "Don’t let the energy dominate you; instead, dominate the energy! Imagine it as part of you, an extension of yourself, not an invading force!"
Nezha struggled to focus his mind, following Aunt Taiyi's guidance as he attempted to rein in the rampaging energy within him. It was a battle of will and power, each second an agonizing ordeal.
"Picture a central point," Aunt Taiyi continued to guide him. "All energy flows from there and returns there. That is your core, your essence."
Nezha labored through the pain to construct this image. Gradually, he felt the flow of energy within him begin to organize itself, and the tearing pain started to ease.
Time passed without him noticing, and finally, Nezha opened his eyes, drenched in sweat but with clarity sharper than ever before. He could distinctly sense every thread of energy flowing within him and even control their direction and intensity. This sensation was both strange and familiar, as if he had been meant to possess this ability all along but had merely kept it buried for too long.
"You did it," Aunt Taiyi said with a relieved smile. "You have entered the later stage of Initial Understanding. Under normal training progress, it would take at least three months, but you accomplished it in less than three hours."
Nezha flexed his wrists, feeling a surge of power throughout his body. Unlike before when he felt restless energy, now it was more docile and obedient, responding effortlessly to his will.
"Taiyi Senior, I saw some images in the illusion," Nezha hesitated but decided to share. "I think I saw the origins of the Demon Orb and... perhaps my past life?"
Aunt Taiyi's expression turned serious. "What did you see?"
Nezha described the scenes from the illusion one by one. After listening intently for a long while, Aunt Taiyi finally nodded. "This aligns with certain records in ancient texts. The Demon Orb is indeed an ancient and powerful crystallization of energy; its reincarnation was not forced but a conscious choice. As for that young man who resembled you, he is likely the previous holder of the Demon Orb."
"Then what about the Li Yang Sect and Lady Shiji? Why are they so obsessed with the Demon Orb?"
Aunt Taiyi sighed. "This goes back to an even older history. In ancient times, the world was divided among several major powers—the Celestial Clan ruled the skies, the Dragon Tribe dominated the oceans, while the Li Yang Sect revered fire and solar power over land. With the rise of human civilization, this balance was disrupted; the Li Yang Sect gradually declined and ultimately suffered a complete defeat in their war against the Dragon Tribe, leading to their leader Lady Shiji being sealed away."
"And as for Demon Sphere Power," she continued, "it became an object of contention due to being the purest source of energy in existence. The Li Yang Sect especially craved it because its fire attributes align perfectly with their cultivation system. If Lady Shiji could be resurrected and absorb Demon Sphere Power, then the Li Yang Sect would have a chance to rise again and possibly overturn the current world order."
