The river split into two branches, forming a small island known as Koji, which was about fifty to seventy meters in diameter. The moonlight was obstructed by one of the peaks, casting the island into shadow, making it seem as if it were hiding in a dark corner. Neither the moonlight at night nor the sunlight during the day reached this place, making it an ideal habitat for a Chimera. The island was overgrown with trees, and from within the forest emanated a soft white glow, as if a massive Lighting Pearl resided there.

When these flowers bloomed, they transformed into translucent wisps that floated away with the wind or dissolved in water. Once animals came into contact with these wisps, they would burrow into their minds and siphon their Shen Hun.
The animals affected wouldn’t die immediately; instead, they would perish slowly over time. The duration of this process depended on the strength of the victim's Shen Hun—those with weaker Shen Hun like Beasts would die quickly from having their essence drained, while stronger Demon Beasts could endure for much longer. This explained why Tamed Beasts were the first to be affected in Kao Shu Village, followed by children; the soul energy absorbed by the flowers would return to nourish Bai Xu’s essence.
