I watched him warily, yet a flicker of curiosity stirred within me. "Who are you? Why are you here?"
He smiled slightly and introduced himself, "My name is Yun Yi, a disciple of the You Long Sword Sect. I am here in the Nether Valley to train myself and also to search for a legendary herb known as Qingxin Grass to present to my sect."
Hearing the words "Qingxin Grass," my heart jolted. This was precisely the purpose of my journey—was he here for the same reason?
Yun Yi seemed to sense my confusion and continued, "Yesterday, I found you unconscious and gravely injured in a desolate forest, so I brought you here. Rest assured, this place is quite safe. I noticed among your scattered belongings a scroll depicting Qingxin Grass; you are also searching for it, aren't you? But why are your wounds inflicted by sharp weapons?"
Noticing my guarded expression, Yun Yi smiled and changed the subject. "Since we are both looking for Qingxin Grass, perhaps we can travel together. I've been in this valley for some time and am quite familiar with the surroundings; I might be able to help you."
I scrutinized him, quickly weighing the pros and cons in my mind. Ultimately, I lowered my guard; after all, he had saved my life. "Alright, Yun Yi. If you can truly help me find Qingxin Grass, I am willing to travel with you."
Thus began our journey together in search of Qingxin Grass. In the days that followed, we traversed the dense forests of the Nether Valley and scaled steep cliffs, facing one crisis after another together. Yun Yi not only knew the valley like the back of his hand but also displayed remarkable wisdom and martial skills. However, having never roamed the martial world before, I knew little about You Long Sword Sect; I had only heard my master mention it as a prestigious sect in the realm. His presence brought me new hope and made this journey feel less solitary.
During one of our breaks, Yun Yi took out an old map that marked potential locations where Qingxin Grass might grow. "This is a map I obtained years ago during an expedition. It indicates several possible locations where it might be found, so we won't have to search aimlessly. This is also why I came to Nether Valley to look for Ice Heart Grass; I believe we will find Qingxin Grass soon."
I looked at the map and felt a wave of relief wash over me. "Yun Yi, thank you. We met by chance, and not only did you save me, but you also shared such an important map with me."
Yun Yi smiled gently and said, "Ling Xue, it's truly admirable that a girl like you ventured alone into such a perilous place as Nether Valley. My main purpose here is still training; finding Qingxin Grass is just an added bonus. If we work together with determination, we will surely find it."
As Yun Yi and I walked side by side through the Nether Valley, the surrounding mist thickened gradually, obscuring our vision. The sky suddenly darkened with heavy clouds, signaling an impending storm. We exchanged glances and saw the seriousness reflected in each other's eyes.
"A storm is coming; we need to find shelter," Yun Yi urged with urgency in his voice. "In this valley, flash floods can occur at any moment—human strength is insignificant against nature's forces."
I nodded in agreement as we began searching for refuge. Just then, a bolt of lightning streaked across the sky, followed by a deafening clap of thunder. Torrential rain poured down, blurring our vision until we could barely see the path ahead.
