"It seems we can't have fun anymore," Yang Yuxin said, shaking her head, secretly regretting that she had spoken up.
"Let's not mention Mr. Jiang; we're still good friends," Qin Xiaoya replied.
"Alright, alright, we won't talk about him. If it weren't for seeing him with you, I wouldn't even glance his way. By the way, let me show you what a real handsome guy looks like." Yang Yuxin continued, pulling out her phone and flipping to a photo where she was cuddled up with a European handsome guy, their poses intimate.
This European handsome guy was indeed very attractive.
"What do you think? My boyfriend is handsome, right?" Yang Yuxin said proudly.
"He really is handsome," Qin Xiaoya admitted honestly.
"He has an older brother too. Should I introduce you? He's just as good-looking," Yang Yuxin said with a grin.
"Stop right there; I'm not interested in foreigners," Qin Xiaoya shot back at Yang Yuxin.
Jiang Chen sat on a sofa in the lounge area, holding a glass of red wine, casually crossing his legs and sipping while observing the various stars and celebrities in the venue.
This gathering of socialites was a reflection of the world's complexities. The popular stars were surrounded by many admirers, while those with less fame stood alone, awkwardly sipping their drinks without anyone to talk to. As for the wealthy elite and privileged offspring, they were often approached by lesser-known stars who were ignored in return.
Although half of the entertainment industry was present tonight, it was still a vast field with first-tier, second-tier, and even those who hadn’t yet stepped into the limelight mingling together. In such a mixed crowd, there were bound to be some unsavory characters. Some female celebrities came here with only one goal: to connect with wealthy young heirs.
As soon as they arrived, their eyes scanned the room in search of "prey." Jiang Chen became one of those targets for a few moments; however, after glancing at him, the female celebrities dismissed him as too ordinary in appearance and attire. They were focused on identifying individuals from their pre-received list of notable attendees—Jiang Chen was not among them.
Yet there were always newcomers in the entertainment industry whose names were not well-known and whose status was low. Unable to reach higher echelons of society, they had to settle for less; at least they hoped to make some connections tonight.
A girl who looked around twenty stared at Jiang Chen for quite some time before cautiously approaching him and sitting down on the sofa opposite him. She changed her posture several times, expecting Jiang Chen to strike up a conversation, but he treated her like air and completely ignored her.
"Um... hello! Did you come here alone?" The girl finally spoke up when Jiang Chen remained silent, clearly feeling shy.
Only then did Jiang Chen turn his attention to her. She wore a light blue evening gown and had a rather pure appearance; she seemed like a recent graduate from a film academy who had just dipped her toes into the entertainment industry and was nervous about trying to connect with him.
"I came with someone else," Jiang Chen replied with a faint smile.
Seeing that Jiang Chen did not refuse, the girl visibly relaxed a little.
"My name is Wu Xiangli, and I am a newly signed artist under Tianyang Entertainment this year. Can we get to know each other?" Wu Xiangli introduced herself.
"My name is Jiang Chen," Jiang Chen replied with a slight smile, not pushing her away.
