"Jianren, He Xian Zhi, stay behind. The rest of you can head back," Yin Qian said as he noticed the crowd outside the door. He dismissed everyone, and only after they left did Cheng Shi lead the people from Kao Shu Village inside.
"Xian Zhi, there's no need to be surprised. It's not that I intended to keep things from you; it's just that some matters..." Seeing Mo Wen's astonished expression, Yin Qian felt a bit awkward and looked at Mo Wen with an apologetic face.
"Senior, there's no need for that. I understand the reasoning behind it; the more people who know a secret, the less it remains a secret," Mo Wen replied, not feeling any offense. Everyone has their own secrets, especially when it comes to a powerful faction.
The group from Kao Shu Village paid their respects to Yin Qian under Cheng Shi's guidance. Mo Wen and Li Erniu exchanged a few pleasantries, but given that they were in the hall, they refrained from being overly familiar and agreed to discuss matters later.
Only four people remained in the hall. Cheng Shi briefly reported to Yin Qian about what he had seen and heard during his visit to Kao Shu Village and truthfully mentioned his acquaintance with Li Erniu, revealing that Li Erniu had once trained under him.
"Wonderful! Xian Zhi, you have truly helped my Jin Family immensely. Regardless of the outcome of this battle, you will be the greatest contributor. The Old Man will certainly recommend you to the Imperial Capital," Yin Qian exclaimed as he admired the weapons forged by Kao Shu Village and the soldiers training under Mo Wen's guidance. Following Mo Wen's advice, Cheng Shi had reorganized the Tenth Battalion, replacing their assorted weapons with standardized ones. Seeing the neatly aligned troops made Yin Qian unable to contain his admiration.
"I dare not take credit; I am merely a Doghead Strategist at best," Mo Wen replied, feeling an ominous premonition as soon as he spoke those words.
"Haha, good! The Old Man was just thinking of appointing you to a position so you can move freely within the estate. What is this position of Doghead Strategist you mentioned? I've never heard of it before!" Upon hearing Yin Qian's words, Mo Wen felt like he had dug himself a pit that he would soon have to fill.
"Uh... it's just someone in the military who lacks real ability but can come up with ideas and plans," he said, improvising since Yin Qian had asked.
"Haha, good! I've gone through all military positions, and I have not encountered one called Doghead Strategist before. However, starting today, I will make an exception for you; I hereby appoint you as Yinzhou's Doghead Strategist. No! Xian Zhi is indeed extraordinary; we should add a grand title before it—let's call you Great Doghead Strategist! Do not refuse, Xian Zhi." Yin Qian laughed heartily, clearly delighted, pulling Mo Wen's hand as if afraid he might run away. While Yin Qian was overjoyed, Mo Wen could only force a smile while internally lamenting.
"Father is wise! We pay our respects to Big Dog Head!" Yin Jianren chimed in immediately from the side. Seeing their commander value this young man so highly and even grant him a title made everyone come forward to pay their respects. At that moment, Mo Wen felt as though he had swallowed something unpleasant but still managed to return their greetings with a smile.
"Yin Jianren, your father truly gave you a good name—Jianren, Jianren; what a scoundrel!" Mo Wen muttered as he walked away. The Jin Family arranged for him new accommodations within their estate. The general’s residence was located in the east of the city, where many government officials also resided since this area housed the administrative offices of Yinzhou City. As Yinzhou was the fief of the Jin Family and their residence here was sufficiently large—especially since many members were away due to assignments in the Imperial Capital—the entire general’s residence felt rather desolate.
