"Without ten billion, Gu Xiangzhou, you might as well live with a red face from now on," Qin Xiaoya said nonchalantly.
Ten billion is a lot, but Qin Xiaoya knew that Jiang Chen didn't care about it, and neither did she.
"Why bother? It's just a small matter. If it escalates, it won't be good. The Gu Family has some background, and if our Qin Family tears our faces with them, the result will only be mutual destruction," Qin Qian expressed his concerns.
Qin Qian's character was nothing like his daughter's; he was always indecisive.
"Dad, just leave this matter to me. I'll handle it," Qin Xiaoya said, not wanting to explain further, and she stomped upstairs.
Qin Qian and Lin Cai'e exchanged glances filled with helplessness; they couldn't intervene in their daughter's affairs.
"Sigh, ever since Qin Xiaoya met Mr. Jiang, I don't know if it's a blessing or a curse," Lin Cai'e said worriedly.
"It's a blessing, not a curse; if it's a curse, there's no escaping it," Qin Qian replied with a frown. Although Jiang Chen was impressive and powerful, he had a reputation for being quick to violence, which was hard for someone like Qin Qian, an "honest man," to accept.
"I used to hope that Qin Xiaoya would fall in love; now that she has, I can't feel happy at all," Lin Cai'e said softly, her tone filled with resignation and melancholy.
"Yes, this Mr. Jiang... I really don't know what kind of person he is. Just thinking about his appearance makes me feel scared. How could our daughter fall for someone like him?" Qin Qian shook his head and sighed.
Qin Xiaoya paid no mind to her parents' discussions; she knew what she needed to about Jiang Chen. Although he could kill without blinking an eye, he was definitely not an evil person.
The night passed without incident, and the next morning arrived.
Wang Shun Yuan and Huang Lin slept until nine o'clock after spending the previous day with Jiang Chen and the others. Even though Jiang Chen had left later on, they had continued having fun until late at night and even went singing, so naturally they needed to sleep in.
Since they had been at Fangshan KTV the night before and it got too late, everyone stayed at Huang Lin's family home—a rural villa rebuilt a few years ago that could easily accommodate many people.
After Wang Shun Yuan and Huang Lin got up and finished washing up, they went to wake Liu Ying and the others. Liu Ying and her friends were still fast asleep; however, Gao Kang was already awake—he claimed it was a habit formed during his exam preparation days.
"Everyone come eat breakfast! I just bought soy milk, fried dough sticks, pan-fried dumplings, buns, and porridge is cooking on the stove," Huang Lin's father called out warmly.
Wang Shun Yuan was now quite the good son-in-law; Huang Lin's parents liked him very much and were all smiles. Sometimes money really is important; with financial support comes recognition.
Everyone gathered around to eat breakfast while chatting about yesterday's events.
"Boss, Gao Kang and I are planning to head back today," Liu Ying suddenly said; they had been in Beijing for a few days now and it was time to return.
"Gao Kang has a girlfriend; it's understandable for him to go back. But why are you going? You’re not going back to work this early, are you?" Wang Shun Yuan asked.
"I'm planning to stay home for a day before heading to Shenzhen," Liu Ying replied.
"Why not stay a few more days? It’s not easy coming all the way to Beijing, plus our dorm's three friends haven’t gathered in over a year. This opportunity is rare; there are still many places to explore in Beijing—let’s keep wandering!" Wang Shun Yuan urged.
"Next time! We only have five days off during the National Day holiday in October. If I go home today, I can only stay one night before heading back—there’s no choice; I need to earn money," Liu Ying laughed.
